Alisa Mathewson was relieved to be away from her estranged husband, Trevor Summers, by the time she had moved into a new home in early 2017. But fate had other ideas, and on March 11, 2017, he stormed into her house and tortured her for more than 55 hours before she was able to flee for her life. Furthermore, although Alisa and Trevor were subject to restraining orders, the latter tricked their daughter, Arden Summers, into assisting him in breaking into the home of his estranged wife. ’48 Hours: Alisa Mathewson’s Night Terrors documents her terrifying ordeal and the subsequent rescue by law police while guiding the spectator through it. Let’s investigate the specifics of the occurrence and learn where she is right now, shall we?
Who is Alisa Mathewson?
Alisa Mathewson and Trevor Summers were wed for a long time, but in the beginning of 2017, things started to go south. The two made the decision to separate after filing restraining orders against one another due to the dire circumstances. Even though she continued to share custody of their five children with her estranged spouse as of March 2017, Alisa had moved into her own home in Valrico, Florida. She was remembered as a loving and compassionate person who sincerely cared for her children by those who knew her during her time in Valrico.
Alisa was happy to embrace her parental responsibilities and had always put her kids before everything else. However, sources claim that the couple’s kids, especially their eldest daughter Arden Summers, had a great relationship with her father as well. Unfortunately, Trevor took advantage of this link to carry out his evil scheme. On March 10, 2017, he approached the 14-year-old and requested that she bring her younger siblings, Bryn and Grady, to see Alisa. Arden was instructed to keep a window open so the estranged spouse could enter the house after mentioning that he needed to speak with their mother.
Thus, on March 11, in the wee hours, Trevor broke into the home of his estranged wife through the window and roused Alisa from her slumber. He then cruelly abused her while she was bound up with whatever he could find, including Christmas lights, before hauling her out of the bedroom. He even remembered to ask Arden to drive her siblings, Bryn, Grady, and Landen, back home when he called her into the house at around five in the morning. Later, she claimed she knew their youngest child, Cooper, 3, was alone at Trevor’s house and did not give the situation much thought before leaving in her car.
After the kids had left, Trevor dragged Alisa into her car and started a sexual assault on her. According to reports, the torture went on for more than 55 hours while the separated husband drove across a number of different counties and even stopped to refuel at a petrol station. Alisa attempted to flee during the gas stop, but Trevor caught her and slashed her wrist as a punishment. He also repeatedly tried to kill her, but the mother of five was able to flee after catching the notice of a passing police officer, who freed her and apprehended the kidnapper.
Where Is Alisa Mathewson Today?
Unfortunately, Alisa’s suffering did not finish with the rescue because Trevor decided to represent himself in court. The mother of five was therefore compelled to describe her dreadful experience to the jury while her estranged husband continued to question her impolitely. Nevertheless, Alisa won the case because Trevor was found guilty of all of the allegations against him, including attempted murder and sexual abuse on two separate occasions, four counts of child neglect, grand theft auto, kidnapping, and breaking a restraining order.
Trevor Summers received three life sentences with an additional 224 years in jail in 2022 as a result. Alisa Mathewson thanked Florida’s Marsey’s Law, which provided her the chance to be present in court and have a jury hear her testimony, after the trial. She even asserted that it led her on a path towards healing and assisted her in overcoming her dread of the assault.
We are delighted to inform you that Alisa, who divorced Trevor since then, now lives in Tampa, Florida, and has a wonderful relationship with all five of her kids. Arden, her eldest daughter, even discussed how her father used manipulation on her and said she still feels bad about her part in the affair. On the other hand, Alisa has supported other abuse victims while she gradually battles the ghosts of her past, and we wish her the best in the years to come.
