Alita: Battle Angel 2 Release Date, Cast And Every Detail Provided Yet

  • DCS

Since the first Alita: Battle Angel movie aired back in 2019, the sequel has received a tonne of love from fans. The possibility of a sequel is still a long way off, but filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is still thinking about it.

He declared in December 2021: “Jim [Cameron] and I recently discussed it, and we’re still quite interested. Let me give [The Book of Boba Fett], and then let’s come up with a pitch, I said to him.

Since Alita: Battle Angel’s debut, Disney has completed the acquisition of Fox, and it will be Disney that chooses whether the film gets a sequel and whether it can find room on its busy release schedule for it.

“I have no idea, but maybe it doesn’t match the Disneyfication. I am clueless. I wouldn’t be the first to learn if they were working on something, but in the meanwhile, I haven’t heard anything,” Christoph Waltz stated in April 2020.

Rodriguez obviously hasn’t given up hope, as seen by her response to main actress Rosa Salazar’s claims that she hadn’t heard anything regarding a sequel in July 2019.

The first film obviously lays the groundwork for a sequel, which Rodriguez and James Cameron had in mind. Here is what we can anticipate after speaking with the two at the time of the film’s theatrical premiere about what a prospective follow-up could bring:

Alita Battle Angel 2 plot: How is Alita Battle Angel 2 set up?

The film is obviously meant to be a comprehensive story, if not one that provides all of our answers.

Alita loses her beloved Hugo, but she has improved her understanding of herself and her place in the world. She goes on to become the Motorball champion and earns the chance to go back to the enigmatic city of Zalem and its ruler Nova.

In fact, an entire segment concerning Motorball was deleted from the final version. “There was a training segment that we shot in an alleyway Hugo is teaching her how to perform the street Motorball,” producer Jon Landau said to CinemaBlend. Really, that’s the only noteworthy scene.

Despite the deleted sections, it is obvious that Rodriguez and Cameron wanted the film to be a standalone story. Rodriguez added, “It’s still a whole plot with a beginning, middle, and finish. She now understands who she is, and she has a target.

But Cameron noted that the mysteries surrounding Alita’s centuries-long existence haven’t even been fully addressed in Yukito Kishiro’s original manga.

He assured us, “Well, we clearly have a strategy for that.” But to promise a sequel before being proved is cheeky. That might blow back at you. When a movie doesn’t fare well, we think of something like Warcraft, which was obviously designed with the idea to have sequels.

But I don’t stress over things like that. You know, if the movie bombs, that’s its own penalty. Even if we fail and are mocked, it doesn’t matter.

Thus, the following questions still need to be addressed: What transpired with Alita between “The Fall” and her final arrival in that trash heap in Iron City? What is the genuine character of Zalem, and how did it survive The Fall? And what does the mysterious Nova actually desire?

Definitely no lack of planning exist for a follow-up. According to Rodriguez, Cameron promised not to transmit “all the 1,000 pages of notes” after all.

Before 600 pages of remarks on the Alita script arrived in the mail, Rodriguez reported Cameron as saying, “I’ll send you, like, 600.” He assumed that Cameron was joking.

The trilogy is covered in like one full document, according to Rodriguez. Because that is merely a step in his process. “These are three films.” Just so you’re aware of what to put in the first narrative and other such things.

Alita Battle Angel 2 cast: Who’s coming back for Alita Battle Angel 2?

Rosa Salazar, who plays Alita, would undoubtedly return since she adores the job as much as she does the principal role. I would play Alita until I died, she declared. “I would, and I probably could, owing to the performance capture technology.”

Christoph Waltz has stated he will return for a sequel, thus we may expect him to return as Dr. Dyson Ido, Alita’s adopted father and a scientist and bounty hunter.

In April 2020, he said, “I haven’t heard anything and I’m a little astonished and unhappy that I haven’t heard a thing so far, because I know that it has followers.”

Despite what some may have thought, I loved it, enjoyed working on it, and enjoyed the end result. I know that people liked it.

After being set up at the very end of the film, Edward Norton ought to return as the mysterious Nova. Rodriguez acknowledged that casting Nova was challenging because his role is “primarily for the setting of a sequel.”

They ultimately put Norton in the small, non-speaking character because they wanted to be sure it was filled with someone they would want to work with on the fictitious Alita: Battle Angel 2.

Clive Lee, a different character from the original draught, wasn’t included. We might see them in the sequel because the director remarked, “I believed we should save him for a sequel,” but it’s not obvious who would play them.

Alita Battle Angel 2 potential release date: When could Alita Battle Angel 2 be out?

We can’t guess when a movie will be released because the movie hasn’t been confirmed. We are aware that it will take time, though.

You must anticipate that writing a script will take you 12 to 18 months, according to Landau. If the script is excellent, you will then have a six to ten month pre-production period. The next step is a six-month shoot. After that, you have a year of post-production, which is standard for movies of this kind.

Alita Battle Angel 2 trailer: Any Alita Battle Angel 2 footage yet?

You already know the answer to this question: because a sequel hasn’t yet been approved, it will be a while before we see any Alita Battle Angel 2 footage.

According to Landau offers a hint for people who are pondering how to persuade Disney to begin work on a sequel:

He remarked, “I think the Alita Army should keep pestering our relatives at Disney and [let them know] how vital it is to have another Alita movie and hopefully we’ll travel there one day.”

You can now purchase Alita: Battle Angel on Prime Video, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K.
