We indulged in some New Year nostalgia, popped some popcorn, and now present to you a list of the top-rated films of the last decade, as determined by viewers.

12 Years a Slave, 2013 – IMDb — 8.1

The main character, Solomon Northup, a free dark-skinned inhabitant of the northern United States, falls into slavery after mistrusting certain con artists. One lord’s cruelty will be replaced by another’s benevolence, and a perpetual struggle for survival and the preservation of human decency will continue for the next 12 years — until Solomon meets someone who can stop his ordeals.

This film is the best narration about people’s enslavement dilemma, according to John Powers, a Vogue film reviewer.

A Man Called Ove, 2015 – IMDb — 7.7

After his wife died, the old Ove, who was completely alone, began to despise the world around him and eventually lost his will to live. Blade Runner 2049, 2017 – IMDb — 8

The new Blade Runner, ‘K,’ a police officer in Los Angeles, discloses an old secret that might throw society into disarray 30 years after the events of the first section.

With a $150 million budget, the designers didn’t compromise on the graphics when depicting the imaginary future planet. The film, however, only made $259,239,658 at the box office. The original film’s director, Ridley Scott, believes that the film’s excessive running time (2 hours and 44 minutes) is one of the reasons for its poor box office performance. The first film lasts 47 minutes less than the second.

Bohemian Rhapsody, 2018 – IMDb — 8

This is the story of Queen, the iconic rock band, and their lead singer, Freddie Mercury. The primary disadvantage for Rami Malek, who played the lead part, was that he had to wear dentures. He became so accustomed to them by the conclusion of the filming that he “felt naked without them.” He even had them cast in gold after the movie.

Deadpool, 2016 – IMDb — 8

A former special forces agent becomes the victim of a bogus experiment while attempting to recuperate from cancer. After gaining the ability to regenerate quickly and combining it with his sharp sense of humour, Deadpool (as he begins to be known) seeks vengeance on the person who shattered his life.

Ryan Reynolds, it turns out, is the master of all trades, as he not only starred in Deadpool, but also served as a producer and the marketing department’s leader.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, 2011 – IMDb — 8.1

Harry, Ron, and Hermione resume their search for Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes in the final installment in the franchise. Meanwhile, the whole of the magical world is at war, and Hogwarts is about to see its final fight.
The end of their work on the film became the final part of an important part of their lives for the young actors who played the principal roles and who had grown up together on set. Some of the props were even allowed to be kept by the actors as mementos. As a result, Emma Watson kept her character’s magic wand, the time-turner, and the cloak; Daniel Radcliffe kept Harry Potter’s spectacles from the first and seventh films; and Rupert Grint kept the Dursleys’ house number and Dumbledore’s Deluminator.

Joker, 2019 – IMDb — 8.5

Arthur Fleck, a mentally ill comedian, crosses the line and transforms into a supervillain who will terrorize the entire city of Gotham.
Joaquin Phoenix won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Before then, he had rejected down two Marvel superhero roles: Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange and Bruce Banner in Avengers in 2012.

John Wick, 2014 – IMDb — 7.4

John Wick is a former mercenary who is now retired. His only important possessions are a classic 1969 Ford Mustang and a dog, which he received as a present from his wife before she died.

Wick’s residence is attacked by a crime boss’s son’s crew one night. John loses both his automobile and his dog as a result of the attack, and he vows to exact vengeance. Scorn, which properly captures the character’s attitude and thoughts toward his offenders, was the original name for the script. However, because Keanu Reeves continued referring to the film by the name of his character, the company opted to maintain it.

Tenet, 2020 – IMDb — 7.6

The protagonist journeys through the perilous world of international espionage and fights for humanity’s survival. With the help of a mysterious word from the future — “tenet,” he completes his task outside of real time.

Christopher Nolan is a one-of-a-kind individual. While Hollywood is awash in remakes and comic-book adaptations, Nolan stands firm in his convictions and continues to promote his controversial but unquestionably brilliant ideas. Welcome to Nolan’s army of devotees if you enjoy complex sci-fi storylines that burst your skull open.

The Intouchables, 2011 – IMDb — 8.5

Philippe, a disabled millionaire, hires a young man with a criminal record to look after him. Nobody expected this coupling to be the start of a powerful friendship that would forever affect both men’s lives.

Many individuals may have questioned Philippe’s decision to hire a man with criminal tendencies. “I needed a guy insane enough to not be afraid of this circumstance,” the millionaire explained in one of his interviews. He was terrified of nothing.”

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, 2012 – IMDb — 7.8

Bilbo Baggins, a simple hobbit, succumbs to the wizard Gandalf’s trickery and is drawn into perplexing events. The valiant hero heads out to the east with 13 dwarves to save the dwarves’ realm from the dragon Smaug. On the journey, he meets Gollum, who will change Bilbo’s life forever.

Martin Freeman, who was also working on the Sherlock series at the time, performed the primary part in the prequel of Frodo and his friends’ exploits. And if director Peter Jackson hadn’t postponed the entire filming process, we may have seen someone else (like Daniel Radcliffe, for example) in the role of the hobbit instead than Freeman, who was a fantastic fit for the movie.

Whiplash, 2014 – IMDb — 8.5

An incredibly unusual story about a teacher and a pupil showcasing what a person pursuing his aspirations can achieve and how the desire to improve oneself can become an obsession.
Despite winning three Oscars, the film has an unspoken reputation for being the best but lowest-grossing film since 1990 — all because the focus was on the actors rather than high-budget visual effects.
