It might be time to give up on a PC version of Bloodborne, the gothic role-playing game developed by FromSoftware, despite the constant demands and unending hopes of fans. Many fans view the 2015 game, which merged Dark Souls gameplay with an exquisite gothic horror visual and intense combat, as a souls-like masterpiece. Since the game’s release, FromSoftware fans have been eagerly awaiting a PC port of the PlayStation-exclusive title, which would introduce a completely new player base to the scary world of Yharnam. But it appears that a Bloodborne release date for the PS5 and PC will never truly happen.
Bloodborne follows the Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls template by having players go on an action role-playing journey through the city of Yharnam. The sombre metropolis is plagued by nasty beasts, forcing the player to battle through the streets as a specially developed Hunter against a wide variety of terrifying creatures. Players in Bloodborne’s fast-paced combat system can use Trick Weapons, which can change into two distinctly lethal versions, while a Rally mechanism allows them to quickly counterattack enemies to heal themselves. Bloodborne starts off with a classic horror look, but as it goes on, it gradually shifts into a story about eldritch Lovecraftian gods and cosmic monsters.
Bloodborne is still a PlayStation-only game, despite its enormous success and strong interest from PC players. An upgraded rerelease of Bloodborne might significantly improve its graphics and reach a smooth 60 frames per second during combat, as shown by a fan-made 4K remaster of the game. It seems obvious to adapt the beloved 2015 Soulslike to desktops given how well-liked FromSoftware’s other games are among PC fans. Bloodborne’s PC release has sadly gone unannounced by Sony, making it less and less likely that it will ever be made available outside of the PlayStation 4.
Newer PS Games Than Bloodborne Have Already Received PC Ports
Sony has transferred a number of other well-known games to computers in place of the Bloodborne PC release that fans of FromSoftware have been demanding for years. Over the previous few years, popular PlayStation-exclusive games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, and God of War from 2018 have all been released on PC. The graphics quality and processing speed of these updated rereleases have significantly improved because to the use of more potent hardware and software. During Sony’s recent June State of Play, a Marvel’s Spider-Man PC release was disclosed, and the two superhero video games from Insomniac would be released for computers in August.
A PC version of Bloodborne looks less and less plausible as PlayStation continues to reveal PC ports of PlayStation-exclusive games. The gothic adventure was released back in 2015, but PC versions of much more recent titles like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man are being released in its place. When more recent and relevant games, like Horizon Forbidden West or Ghost of Tsushima, would appeal to a broader audience if they made the switch to PC, it seems unlikely that Sony would go back in time and release a PC port for a game from 2015.
Elden Ring And Dark Souls Are Already On PC
Bloodborne has a very distinct ambiance, but it also has a lot in common with earlier FromSoftware role-playing games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring in terms of gameplay. Bloodborne and Elden Ring both feature engaging Trick Weapons, but Bloodborne also has a more aggressive combat system. Elden Ring’s dungeons and caverns have a defined format in Bloodborne’s Chalice Dungeons, and Malenia’s Great Rune allows players to reproduce the Rally system in the open-world epic. Along with the Dark Souls trilogy, these two games include enigmatic plots and fluid multiplayer mechanics that may be played cooperatively or competitively.
Additionally, the continued development of Elden Ring by FromSoftware makes a Bloodborne PC adaptation appear doubtful. The open-world, souls-like epic received a rapturous reception upon its February release, and FromSoftware is anticipated to continue providing updates and downloadable content for the game. Because of this, it seems unlikely that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director, and the Bloodborne developer will devote the necessary time to remastering the Gothic classic for PC. Even if another team, such as Bluepoint Games, the creator of the Demon’s Souls remake, could execute the port, it would be unnecessary given FromSoftware’s efforts to fix the Dark Souls multiplayer game servers and the upcoming release of Elden Ring DLC.
A Bloodborne Sequel On PC Could Provide The Same Service
Bloodborne’s PC release date would provide certain fans a brand-new method to play the adored game, but making a sequel would offer everyone a brand-new experience. There are many directions a hypothetical sequel may take because the world of Bloodborne is so fascinating and varied. The sandy realm of sickly Loran is one among the places outside of Yharnam that would be ideal to explore in a follow-up. Bloodborne’s sequel might continue to draw on its Lovecraftian roots by emphasising the sea in a maritime or coastal setting.
The gory role-playing game series could be enjoyed by a much larger group of FromSoftware fans if it were released on PC and PlayStation consoles at the same time. Although there is presently no official word on a sequel to the well-liked game, Bluepoint Games’ Bloodborne 2 would be a logical step after the Demon’s Souls remake from the previous year. Once post-launch support for Elden Ring is complete, FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki may also work on a Bloodborne sequel. It seems like a lot more effective process to create one game for both platforms and PC rather than simply updating Bloodborne for PCs.
Bloodborne PC port requests have been made by fans for years, but with each day that passes without an announcement, the likelihood of this happening seems to decrease. Since most gamers believed that Marvel’s Spider-Man would only ever be available on PlayStation consoles, the news of a PC adaptation appears to be the icing on the cake. Sadly, this means leaving Bloodborne behind since Sony seems more interested in porting its newest and trendiest games to PC. Bloodborne fans would be better off hoping for a full-fledged sequel rather than a port, even though it is still possible.
