Ross physically hit his mother during a domestic dispute, causing both her injuries and the bloodstain that was later found, according to the evidence that was obtained. Ross had reportedly taken her to the campground after assuming his mother had died; however, the bloody markings on her imply she may have been dragged, according to the evidence. Ross allegedly discovered Carol was still alive while at the trailer park and killed her by strangling her, which was later determined to be the cause of death.
