Say hello to Clayton Grimm, aka the ‘new’ Blippi
When children discovered that their favourite bespectacled YouTube user, Blippi, wasn’t the same person they had been watching for years, it was a sad and perplexing day. Yes, there is a “new” Blippi actor in town on YouTube, and both parents and children are blipping out.
Actor Sevin John, real name Stephen J. Grossman, has been replaced as the titular Blippi after 7 years by Clayton Grimm. And it’s not the first time Grimm has acted in John’s place. In place of the “genuine” Blippi that 12.5 million children have grown to know and adore, Grimm made an appearance on the Blippi Live tour in 2019.
Blippi’s Instagram account sent a statement on Friday stating that they would be “bringing more Blippi from the Live Show”:

Fans were visibly unhappy and surprised that it wasn’t John wearing his distinctive orange bow tie and beret. One commenter asked, “Will the genuine Blippi kindly stand up?” while another expressed dismay, “Who’s this? My kids aren’t going to accept this. Some even referred to Clayton Grimm as a fraud, and a child of another wondered if he was a man wearing a Blippi costume for Halloween.
Who is Clayton Grimm?
Since 2019, Clayton Grimm has been travelling for Blippi. He currently portrays Blippi in a brand-new “Learn with Blippi” series that just made its YouTube debut. Clayton Grimm, an actor residing in New York City, is described in his bio as having earned a degree from the esteemed NYU Tisch School of the Arts/Strasberg + Classical Studio. Grimm has made an international tour appearance as The Flash in DC’s Justice League in addition to playing Blippi.
Will Stevin John stop playing Blippi?
According to a spokeswoman for the well-known children’s show production company Moonbug, Stevin John, the original Blippi, will continue to appear on the programme. Contrarily, Clayton Grimm will take part in a set-based approach akin to the Blippi stage act.
On the website for Blippi The Musical, it is stated:
“Blippi was created by Stevin John, who also serves as the character’s writer and creative force. He is thrilled that a vibrant stage actress has been chosen to play Blippi now that the character has developed, so that audiences everywhere the tour goes can be entertained and amazed.
Therefore, there’s no need for parents to get all tense. While Clayton Grimm will appear in additional Blippi videos, Stevin John will return to the role of Blippi. Case resolved.
