The new version of Criminal Minds is called Criminal Minds: Evolution. With the return of Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Alvez (Adam Rodriguez), J.J. (A.J. Cook), and Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) to the BAU, the team is once more searching for serial killers. Although Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Simmons (Daniel Henney) are still missing in action, you scarcely have time to notice as the crew is preoccupied with the most evasive unsub they have yet to encounter.
He goes by Elias Voit, and Friday Night Lights alum Zach Gilford plays him. What transpires when a serial killer is trapped indoors for two years by a pandemic and builds a network of like-minded killers to extend their lethal reach will be explored in Criminal Minds: Evolution.
Thanksgiving Day, November 24, saw the season’s first two episodes debut on Paramount+ at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. On Thanksgiving, the first episode also broadcast on CBS at 10 p.m. ET, after the kids had gone to bed. Every Thursday up to the midseason finale on December 15 there will be new episodes available on Paramount+. The programme then returns on January 12 and airs every week until Thursday, February 9, when Criminal Minds: Evolution concludes.
Here is all the information we currently know about Criminal Minds: Evolution.
Criminal Minds: Evolution schedule
You’ll have to wait if you’re hoping to watch new episodes over the holiday break. Following a mid-season finale on December 15, Criminal Minds: Evolution will be on hiatus. But fear not—the show will resume on January 12 and continue through February 9 of 2023.
The first two episodes of the revival will be aired on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, exclusively on Paramount+, showrunner, executive producer, and writer Erica Messer announced at Paramount+’s Television Critics Association (TCA) event on Sept. 21. Additionally, the first episode was televised on CBS as part of a special broadcast premiere on Thursday, November 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Criminal Minds: Evolution trailer
People, we got a trailer! On Nov. 4, Paramount+ released the revival’s official trailer, and the show looks freaky as hell. The BAU team is prepared to enlist assistance while the serial killer is still at large. The largest instance we’ve ever had, according to Rossi.
New Criminal Minds series title
It was revealed by Paramount on September 9 that the show would be called Criminal Minds: Evolution. The name seems to be a strong hint that the series will take a fresh turn.
According to Nicole Clemens, President of Original Scripted Series at Paramount+, “The series never ceased developing during its run, and we are beyond pleased to bring it back into a new era with new tales for a new generation of viewers.” “Erica [Messner], the entire ensemble, and the creative team are developing a season full of unexpected twists that we are confident will electrify audiences,” the statement read.
Criminal Minds: Evolution cast
Fortunately, the majority of them will return for the revival—not all of them, though, as we’ll discuss in a moment—so it just wouldn’t be the same without the recognisable faces that we got to know and love over the course of 15 seasons.
Zach Gilford, a former cast member of Friday Night Lights, was revealed by Paramount+ as the show’s first new cast member. Gilford will play a recurrent character throughout the season. Gilford will play Elias Voit, a cyber-security analyst with a dark side and a death obsession, in place of his usual role as the good guy. Voit will be investigated in a continuing arc for 10 episodes, unlike previous unsubs. Paget Brewster, the star, told reporters on September 21 that it was “very exciting” to tell a little different story (about this unsub).
Main cast
The Senior Agent is Joe Mantegna Darrell Rossi
As Agent JJ Jareau, A.J. Cook
Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler)
Luke Alvez, played by Adam Rodriguez
The technical analyst is Kirsten Vangsness. Unit Chief Penelope Garcia Paget Brewster Ingrid Prentiss
Elias Voit, played by Zach Gilford
Fans’ favourite Matthew Gray Gubler, who will not be appearing as brilliant FBI Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid in the first set of episodes, is noticeably absent from the cast roster. Although he and Daniel Henney (Special Agent Matt Simmons), who was a Season 13 addition, were unable to make their schedules compatible for this season, the possibility of their returning in the future still exists.
According to TV Line, showrunner Erica Messer claimed that Matt and Spencer are inexplicably absent but “not forgotten” this season. She noted that the desks of Dr. Reid and Matt Simmons were still present and contained items. “For instance, if any of you returned to the office after the pandemic, your desk would still contain items that had been there for two years. Therefore, we definitely play that. However, [Spencer and Matt] are still alive.” I hope they return for Season 2.
<h#3>Criminal Minds: Evolution storyline
This brand-new series, which is set in the post-Covid-19 era, will continue where the first one left off. The streaming version of the show will follow one plot over the entire season as opposed to a different case in each episode, in contrast to the cable TV show. According to the official logline, Elias Voit, an unsub who has used the epidemic to create a network of other serial killers, will pose the greatest threat yet to the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers. The network is now active as the globe starts to open again, and our squad must find them one murder at a time.
Where to watch Criminal Minds: Evolution
