Fans of the music festival are interested in Frank Ocean’s successor after his turbulent and polarising performance during Coachella Weekend 1.
Since the release of his album Blonde, Frank Ocean has not played live, and his first Coachella performance was in 2012.
He was supposed to perform at Coachella in 2020, but the pandemic forced the cancellation. Frank Ocean would be the headlining act in 2023, as predicted by Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett.
However, the show fell short of many fans’ expectations, and Frank Ocean had to postpone his Weekend 2 performance because of a leg ailment.
His representatives stated that due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg, a doctor had advised him not to perform.
Fans are anxiously anticipating learning who will take Frank Ocean’s prized Sunday Coachella slot.
Who is replacing Frank Ocean at Coachella?
Variety reports that Blink-182 will replace Frank Ocean as the major headliner for Coachella Weekend 2.
At the start of Weekend 1, the band shocked fans by revealing that Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker would rejoin them as their original lineup.
The original band hadn’t performed together in over ten years at this point.
Tom DeLonge shared a picture of the band’s appearance at a desert festival on Instagram.
The vocalist and guitarist, who left the group in 2015 but returned in 2022, wrote on his joy for the group’s reunion and how they had persevered through hardships including breakups, car accidents, and cancer.
The bassist and singer Mark Hoppus, who had battled cancer in 2021, expressed his appreciation for being able to perform with his friends and his delight about taking part in a rock concert.
He praised Coachella for giving him the chance to perform after the performance.
Finally, the band’s drummer Travis Barker tweeted about their successful attendance at the festival to mark the end of their performance.
Who is Frank Ocean? What Happened to Frank Ocean at Coachella?
An American singer, songwriter, and record producer by the name of Frank Ocean.
His show at Coachella 2023 recently started an hour late and was cut short by curfew.
Some devoted followers of Frank Ocean waited since eight in the morning to get a good location at the barricade for his Coachella concert.
However, the performance was delayed for an hour, and when Frank did eventually take the stage, he spent the majority of the time hidden behind a large screen, disappointing some of the audience members.
Ryan Breaux, who sadly perished in a car accident in 2020, received a shout-out from him as he sang a cover of “At Your Best (You Are Love).” Unfortunately, the curfew forced an early conclusion to the show.
Frank’s doctor urged him to adjust the show after it was later found that he had hurt his ankle during rehearsals.
The company apparently had planned to have Frank perform on an ice rink with choreographed hockey players dancing in the background, but the injury prompted them to change their minds.
Frank’s admirers were still thrilled to watch him play and honoured his skills in spite of the disappointments.
