The family of Jordan DeMay posted the obituary.
On March 30, his burial service was held at the Lake Superior Christian Church in Sands Township, 393 State Highway.
From 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, recollections and tributes were shared. There was then visiting till 6:00 pm.
Attendees were urged to adopt the late Jordan’s casual dressing style by donning jerseys or other informal clothing.
Jordan John DeMay, a 17-year-old boy, went away on March 25, 2022, a Friday.
He was the adored son of John C. and Jennifer DeMay and was born on June 7, 2004, in Ishpeming.
Jordan adored going to see his grandparents in White Pine when he was younger. He stayed in Marquette for a long period.
Jordan was an avid sports player throughout his boyhood, participating in baseball, basketball, football, and track.
His mother coached him in his very first basketball game, and he was a star in both football and basketball.
Jordan was a senior at Marquette Senior High School when he passed away. He went to Cherry Creek Elementary, Bothwell Middle School, and Cherry Creek Elementary.
His involvement in the basketball and football teams showed compassion, maturity, and collaboration.
Jordan shown incredible perseverance in rehabbing himself and making college plans despite suffering a major knee injury that kept him out of action for a year.
He was inspired to seek a profession in athletic training by the Sports Medicine rehabilitation team.
As a dedicated team captain, Jordan set an example for his colleagues.
He was named to the Second Team All-Conference Honourable Mention for his competitive spirit and commitment to his sports.
Jordan is survived by his mother Jennifer (Charles) Buta, his sisters Harper DeMay, Vivienne DeMay, Stella Buta, and Addison Buta, all of Marquette, as well as his paternal grandparents and a number of other relatives.
Jordan’s suicide highlights the danger of the S*xtortion scam
The family of Jordan DeMay is raising awareness of the disturbing rise in s*xtortion schemes on social media.
Jordan DeMay, their son, tragically passed away as a result of these schemes.
He played football in high school and was a gifted athlete. He experienced the awful event in March 2022.
According to sources, a hacked Instagram account purportedly run by a 22-year-old Nigerian man called Samuel Ogoshi targeted Jordan.
Ogoshi engaged in s*xtortion by tricking young males into uploading pornographic photographs using the false profile.
Jordan apparently sent Ogoshi a clear picture, at which point Ogoshi reportedly said, “I can send these n*des to everyone until it goes viral.”
Jordan enquired about the amount of money he desired from Ogoshi in an effort to cover his tracks.
In response, Ogoshi demanded payment in full immediately now, saying, “Just pay me rn right now, and I won’t expose you.”
Jordan sent Ogoshi $300, but Ogoshi insisted on additional money and threatened to reveal the explicit image to Jordan’s family members if he didn’t.
Tragically, when Jordan told Ogoshi he was going to kill himself, the situation was disastrous.
Ogoshi allegedly replied in a cruel manner, “Good. Do that quickly. If not, I’ll force you to. I promise to God.
DeMay, a 17-year-old, shot himself in the head on March 25, 2022, ending his life.
This week, John DeMay told Fox News that Jordan’s death had utterly taken his family by surprise and advised every family to become informed about the risks associated with s*xtortion plots.
The Nigerian men faces charges
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation looked into Jordan’s death.
Three Nigerian males, Samuel Ogoshi, Samson Ogoshi, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, have been apprehended by the authorities.
The defendants, who are all residents of Lagos, Nigeria, were charged with four counts, according to the Department of Justice indictment.
In the United States, they are accused of sexually abusing over 100 young men and teenage boys.
The accusations against them include plotting to harm children, disseminating offensive images of youngsters, and online sexting.
