With the exception of the conclusion, the sequence in which you watch the episodes doesn’t important in Netflix’s newest heist series Kaleidoscope. Since practically any episode might be your starting point, your viewing experience will be unique from that of someone who started with a different episode. The eight episodes of Kaleidoscope stretch from 24 years before the robbery to 6 months after, and according to Netflix, the series is “loosely inspired by the real-life scenario when 70 billion dollars in bonds went missing in downtown Manhattan after Hurricane Sandy.”
But in addition to having an original premise and a compelling watching format, the series also has a rather impressive ensemble that includes a number of well-known actors. The cast of Kaleidoscope is listed below, along with previous appearances by each actor.
Giancarlo Esposito is Leo Pap
Giancarlo Esposito portrays Leo Pap, the head of the crew leading the heist, on television. Leo is “whip-smart, intense and driven, with an engineer’s mind and a precise eye for detail,” according to Netflix. Since he started stealing at an early age, he has struggled to avoid a life of crime, endangering both his family and his freedom. Esposito has made numerous television appearances, including Better Call Saul, The Boys, The Mandalorian, and Breaking Bad.
Jai Courtney is Bob Goodwin
Bob Goodwin, Judy Goodwin’s husband, is the safecracker for the heist and is equally adept at getting into safes as he is at pushing people’s buttons. He is a “chest-puffing alpha male” who is “clever enough to be harmful to anyone who gets in his way when he’s on the hunt” and “beautiful enough to be a menace.” Jai Courtney, who you might recognise from Terminator: Genisys, the Divergent trilogy, and Suicide Squad, plays Bob.
Rosaline Elbary is Judy Goodwin
The demolitions specialist for the heist is Judy Goodwin, Bob Goodwin’s wife, who is “intelligent and talented enough to keep a step ahead of her mistakes” while being “an eccentric spitfire with a caustic edge” and “an eccentric spitfire with a sarcastic edge.” Rosaline Elbary, who has acted in the Hulu series Ramy and the Egyptian TV series Qabeel, plays Judy.
Paz Vega is Ava Mercer
Ava Mercer, who is portrayed by Spanish actress Paz Vega, is a lawyer and the crew’s expert in weapons. Mercer is “a passionate spirit who will do anything to protect the few individuals close to her” and is “equally at home on a pistol range or gallery show as she is in the courtroom.” Vega has a lengthy resume, but you are probably most familiar with her from Spanglish with Adam Sandler, The OA on Netflix, and Rambo: First Blood.
Peter Mark Kendall is Stan Loomis
Stan Loomis, a smuggler and devoted member of the heist gang, is portrayed by Peter Mark Kendall. Stan “has the heart of a hopeless romantic and a mouth that never stops running.” Kendall made appearances in TV shows like Girls, The Americans, Chicago Med, The Good Fight, and Gotham before Kaleidoscope.
Jordan Mendoza is RJ Acosta
“Self-taught engineer, great mechanic and automobile customizer, and driver extraordinaire” is how RJ Acosta describes himself. Despite his limited interpersonal abilities, he is desperate to win Leo over and establish his importance to the robbery. Jordan Mendoza, who previously provided voice work for the Big Mouth spin-off Human Resources and made an appearance on Ziwe, plays RJ.
Rufus Sewell is Roger Salas
Former burglar Roger Salas has made the decision to use his talents to advance to the level of “first tier security specialist.” Roger is “a salesman with an incredible knack for persuading people to serve his purposes.” Although he can be dependable, he ultimately serves his own interests. In addition to being a significant foe of the heist team, Roger has a history with Leo. Rufus Sewell, an actor who has starred in The Holiday, The Man in the High Castle, and M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, plays Salas.
Tati Gabrielle is Hannah Kim
Although Hannah Kim works for Roger, this does not imply that she is loyal to him. Hannah is no different from the other complicated characters Tati Gabrielle has portrayed in the past, such as Prudence Night in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Marienne Bellamy in You, and Jo Braddock in the Uncharted movie, as her true motivations and aptitudes are revealed. In order to escape her situation, Hannah is a “chameleon who glides between the realm of high-stakes finance and low-lying criminality.”
Soojeong Son is Liz Kim
The younger Kim sister, Liz, is described as “a free spirit and aspiring DJ/immersive dance captain.” She and Hannah generally get along well, although occasionally her carefree view contrasts with Hannah’s more sober outlook on life and work. Soojeong Son, who has also made appearances in Servant and Search Party, plays Liz.
Hemky Madera is Carlos Sujo
Roger’s head of security, Carlos, is very devoted and “intense,” ready to do anything his boss asks of him. Carlos is portrayed by Hemky Madera, who you may know from Weeds, Queen of the South, or Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Niousha Noor is Nazan Abassi
Nazan Abassi, the FBI agent tasked with taking out the robbery team, is played by Niousha Noor. She excels at her career, but because of her drive, she finds it difficult to take a break, even when her work threatens to overwhelm her. Niousha Noor made appearances in The Night, Here and Now on HBO, and Stitchers on Freeform prior to Kaleidoscope.
