Jeff Daniels stated that his wife, Kathleen Rosemary Treado, packs him lunch every morning when he appeared on Live With Kelly and Ryan on Friday.
When co-host Kelly Ripa inquired about the thoughtful act, Daniels responded, “She packed my lunch today in my little Detroit Tigers lunch box because I’m going to practise tonight.”
He had a salad for lunch, along with an orange, a plum, and water. Daniels graciously rebutted Ryan Seacrest’s remark that the actor needs some heavier meals, saying, “No, Kathleen takes fantastic care of me.”
The pair has three kids together and has been married since 1979. They did meet while they were teenagers, even though they aren’t really high school sweethearts, as Daniels confirmed.
After that, Daniels related a humorous story about his wife to Amanda Peet’s Thursday visit on the daytime show. Due to an injury sustained while playing pickleball, Peet’s arm was in a sling throughout the interview.
Daniels recalls, “I was filming American Rust in the middle of July this summer when I got a call from my wife saying, ‘pickleball.'”
“[In] 42 years, I have never heard her use the word pickleball,” he continued. She says something along the lines of, “I play pickleball and I take lessons, and I do dink drills.” I have a coach, and tomorrow we’re doing dink drills at the pickleball court.
Pickleball has been dubbed the newest social media trend by Ripa, but Daniels is obviously not a fan of the game. He made a joke, “To me, it’s like, ‘I’m drinking paint. I participated, and it’s similar to half-court basketball for the elderly.
Daniels presently appears in the Showtime crime drama American Rust, which debuts on September 12.
