Megan Donner (Kim Delaney), a crime lab assistant supervisor, makes her television debut in the “CSI: Miami” pilot when she returns from a long leave of absence. Donner’s husband, Sean, was killed while on duty, and the CSI team member needed time to heal. She took six months off. The supervisor doesn’t spend too much time on the criminal beat, despite the fact that the character is otherwise concerned with her job and takes some cases extremely personally.
After “Camp Fear,” episode 10 of Season 1, Donner leaves the CSI crew once more. She writes Horatio Caine (David Caruso) a note explaining that the cases made her think too much about her spouse and asking Caine not to get in touch with her.
Delaney’s character was written out because of her lack of chemistry with Caruso and other cast members, which is the real reason she quit “CSI: Miami,” according to sources. Following her departure from the “CSI” universe 20 years ago, here is what Delaney has been up to.
Delaney was a regular on Army Wives and General Hospital
Kim Delaney has maintained a consistent acting career since since her part on “CSI: Miami” was deleted. On a few episodes of “NYPD Blue” in 2003, she even played Detective Diane Russell again, one of her most well-known roles. Later, she would reprise this role in 2019 for the “NYPD Blue” remake.
Delaney played Claudia Joy Holden, the motherliest of the women stationed at Fort Marshall, for six seasons of the popular Lifetime television series “Army Wives” beginning in 2007. Claudia passed away from heart failure off-screen in Season 7, bringing Delaney’s overall episode count to 104. Delaney had appearances in the Lifetime original “Betting on the Bride” and the brief Crackle original “The Oath” after departing “Army Wives.”
She most recently appeared in 45 episodes of the soap opera “General Hospital” as Jackie Templeton, for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination. With such a lengthy career, Delaney may provide some guidance to aspiring performers. “Never lose up, keep focused,” she advised Digital Journal in 2021.
