They had really lived four homes apart from one another as youngsters on the Monroe Turnpike, a tree-lined Avenue on the town’s outskirts. A short distance from their homes, they both attended the same high school. They left Masuk High School with the class of 1980.
Tom’s family had a good reputation in Monroe and ran a prosperous construction and real estate development company. Lisa too came from a close-knit, content family. Her parents, Harry and Elizabeth, were devoted to her and her younger sister, Lynne. Despite everything they had in common, Lisa and Tom were very different individuals. However, according to Vincent “Vinnie” Infante, the couple’s eldest son, “My dad preferred to be the guy in the corner, just hanging around with his friends. He wasn’t a big fan of being the centre of attention. The Infantes welcomed their first child, Vinnie, three years into their marriage. Vinnie was followed by Harrison, Matt, and Kayla, three males and a daughter. Until disaster hit their Hickory Lane, Shelton, home in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in late September 2015, they appeared to be the archetypal happy American couple.
On September 27, Lisa, age 53, was discovered dead in the couple’s bedroom. Two of the Infante children discovered the body because their Chihuahua-family dog started pawing at the bedroom door, trying to get inside, according to court documents. Lisa was lying on her bed, covered under a blanket, when the responding cops arrived. Blood covered the back of her head where she had been tragically shot. She was also cold and didn’t have a pulse. At the scene, a.380-caliber bullet casing was discovered.
Who Killed Lisa Infante?
The Infantes appeared to be a typical happy family on the show, with four kids, a suburban home, solid employment on paper, and a nearly 27-year marriage. But as it turns out, they were indeed dealing with significant issues in their lives. According to court records, Lisa, a Trumbull EMS emergency medical technician, had an adulterous relationship. Her husband Tom, on the other hand, came dangerously close to losing his position as an equipment operator with the Trumbull Department of Public Works.
Timothy Herbst, the former first selectman of the town, stated, “In 2010, I ordered Mr. Infante’s termination due to workplace aggression that resulted in injuries to some of our employees. The union protested my decision, which was ultimately overturned. Two of the couple’s four kids were at home on September 27. The youngsters, however, didn’t seem to hear the bullets since one was watching TV and the other was listening to music, according to Tom’s arrest warrant affidavit.
The family dog, however, was soon being heard feverishly scratching on the master bedroom door, as one of the kids quickly realised. Around 9:30 p.m., the younger kid entered the room after noticing the pet’s strange behaviour, made the horrifying discovery, and yelled for help to his elder brother. According to police sources, neither of the boys heard their father get into his red 1995 Chevrolet Blazer and leave. As a result, some officials investigated Lisa’s life while others made contact with Tom, who had already arrived in Pennsylvania.
Tom reportedly travelled to Ohio by car before returning to Connecticut on September 28 and turning himself in to police while wearing a bloodied t-shirt. He was found to be in possession of the murder weapon, a Ruger.380 handgun. According to the daughter of the pair, her father loved her mother but couldn’t recall a time when they got along. According to her, there was “a lot of verbal abuse in the family.” In the end, their verbal argument about Lisa’s affair and her desire for a divorce on that fateful day reportedly prompted her husband to shoot her.
Where is Thomas Infante Jr. Now?
Up to his April 2018 trial, Tom was thereafter detained at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers on a $1.5 million bond. According to the records, he had an erratic employment history and had been fired twice in the previous five years. He pushed a coworker, causing serious injuries, and Herbst fired him in 2010. His defence attorney described their client as a law-abiding individual with a limited history of DUI offences. He lost his employment at the Trumbull Highway Department in 1998 as a result of those DUIs, but he was later hired back.
In April 2018, Tom, aged 54, ultimately entered a plea of guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter with the justification of acute emotional disturbance. In June 2018, he was sentenced to 40 years in jail, 25 of which will be suspended, and then five years of probation. The court did specify that if he ever broke any of the terms of his probation, he would have to serve the remainder of his sentence. As a result, the 60-year-old is presently incarcerated at the high-security MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield, Connecticut, serving out his term. His maximum date of release, according to his prison records, is January 3, 2040.
