Today’s entertainment journalist Maria Menounos may say that she is just as well-known as the many renowned people she has spoken with. She has worked as a TV correspondent for “Extra,” “Access Hollywood,” and “Entertainment Tonight,” among other shows. She has also done some acting work on TV shows like “One Tree Hill” and “Scrubs.” According to Us Weekly, she even won a seat on “Dancing with the Stars” after becoming a sensation in her own right.
It makes sense that one of Menounos’ significant life events was broadcast into the homes of millions of television viewers given how much of her life has been spent on the small screen. She interrupted her duties as host of Fox’s 2017 New Year’s Eve special to wed her longtime partner Keven Undergaro live on camera, according to People. Steve Harvey, Menounos’ co-host, officiated the wedding. Menounos later discussed the wedding suggestion with the special’s producer as they were talking about how to have a buzzworthy moment during the show when she made an appearance on Harvey’s talk show, “Steve.” They had already been dating for twenty years when she and Undergaro got married.
Menounos stated about Underago in a 2014 interview with Parade that “He cherishes his anonymity.” While Undergaro was anything but anonymous when he proposed to Menounos on “The Howard Stern Show” in 2016, he has been prepared to give it up for the benefit of both his and his wife’s professions. Prior to meeting Menounos, Undergaro was more used to working behind the scenes.
Keven Undergaro met Maria Menounos at work
Keven Undergaro started working at a carnival on the East Coast over the summer instead of using his history degree from Saint Anselm College. This assisted him in raising money for his attempt to start a writing career in Hollywood, where he ultimately rose to the position of chief writer for the popular dating game program “Singled Out” on MTV. Then, Undergaro decided to focus on independent filmmaking. According to Undergaro’s website bio, the movie was a “life changing fiasco” that caused him to become insolvent, homeless, and unemployed. However, the event did have some positive outcomes. He reportedly shot the unsuccessful movie in Boston, where Maria Menounos was attending college, according to Yahoo! Entertainment. In a Reddit AMA, Undergaro revealed how he knew Maria’s cousin from high school and how he requested if she might work as a production assistant on the movie. Underago and Menounos began dating after a few months of cowork together.
Soon after, Menounos received her big break. She remembered to Girl Boss that “after we wrapped, someone that worked on the film alerted us to an on-camera position in LA for Channel One News,” adding that she quickly made her way to Hollywood after getting the job. After realizing that Menounos possessed the “It” element, Undergaro became her biggest supporter. His website states that he “dedicated to Maria’s life and profession, believing profoundly in her talents.” However, his own career as a producer would also take off, and he and Menounos would work together to create a media empire.
Keven Undergaro launched a successful business powered by fandom culture
When he executive produced, wrote, and directed the 2011 film “Adventures of Serial Buddies,” Keven Undergaro had the opportunity to collaborate with stars Christopher Lloyd and Henry Winkler, but his biggest achievement would come the next year. He and Maria Menounos founded AfterBuzz TV in 2012 as a website for TV viewers who enjoy speculating about what will happen next and psychoanalyzing their favorite characters. According to Variety, approximately 200 aftershows for TV series from various genres were being shown on AfterBuzz TV by 2014. According to Undergaro’s website bio, “Keven not only came up with the concept, he also built the network from the ground up, personally constructing the studios and designing previously non-existent technology.”
In 2014, Undergaro and Menounos ventured in reality television, appearing in and producing the Oxygen series “Chasing Maria Menounos” as its stars and executive producers. Menounos explained to Parade why it was significant that Undergaro had decided to go in front of the camera. “Keven has never been in the spotlight,” she claimed. “He’s never accompanied me on red carpet walks. He avoids social gatherings. In this village, people believe he is a ghost.”
Later, Undergaro will co-star with Menounos in the Lifetime film “The Holiday Fix Up” (2021). According to Menounos, who added that his improvised lines didn’t make the final edit, “He had a minor role in it and he threw some Howard Stern lines in there.”
