Netflix’s Mars One (2022) Ending: Does Tercia’s Curse Get Lifted?

Mars One (originally titled Marte Um) focuses more on the humanitarian features of a family and its members’ individual lives than it does on the political components of society. The Gabriel Martins-written and -directed drama film from 2022 tells the tale of a Brazilian middle-class family. It is more difficult for them to remain unified as they negotiate shifting political systems and economics.

The heart of the story is a moving account of how family ties change over time, how dreams change, and how parents push their children to be perfect. The movie’s main characters are Céro Lucas, Camilla Damio, Carlos Francisco, and Rejane Faria. The four members of the family all aspire to a better life in their own special ways. They desire to escape the constraints of their mundane, financially precarious lives. Additionally, they are all hushed dreamers. Their objectives go beyond the typical pursuit of prosperity. Let’s find out how Mars One’s conclusion affects the key characters right now. Spoilers follow.

Mars One Plot Synopsis

There are brief flashes of Deivinho, Eunice, Wellington, and Tercia’s life at the beginning of the film. Deivinho enjoys stargazing and playing soccer. Deivinho receives enthusiastic encouragement from his father, Wellington, to play the sport. Eunice, Deivinho’s sister, assists their mother Tercia with household chores in the kitchen during this time. She tries to persuade Tercia to require Deivinho to help out with household chores. Tercia dismisses the subject and the debate, emphasising the rigid gender rules of a patriarchal culture.mars one sundance, mars one film, mars one film review, mars one tribeca, watch mars one, mars one cast, mars one full movie, klondike sundance, mars one day,*mars one netflix ending, mars season 1

Eunice visits a bar to have fun and let go. She meets a lovely lady named Joana, and they begin to dance. As Eunice’s parents are unaware of her sexuality, the two eventually begin dating in secret. Deivinho researches how to become an astronomer at home and watches films about space travel. The siblings gather to choose a present and a party as their mother’s birthday approaches. The latter runs nicely with everyone having a good time dancing and drinking.

Tercia is a temporary housekeeper. However, it is erratic and frequently puts a strain on her. One afternoon, while she orders lunch at a diner, a man pulls a horrifying prank and detonates a tiny dynamite bomb. Tercia is horrified and traumatised by the incident. She has terror ever once she heard fireworks or any loud noise. Her relatives laugh and play off her anxieties when she informs them about the practical joke. She thus feels disregarded and unheard.

However, Joana and Eunice want to live together since they both want to be independent and live away from their parents. Wellington and Tercia grudgingly concur as Eunice adjusts to telling her parents that she is gay. Additionally, it appears that the plot has reached a turning point at this time as things begin to become worse.

Mars One Ending: How Does Deivinho Break His Leg?

We have seen Wellington play and enjoy soccer vicariously through Deivinho from the beginning of the film. In many ways, Wellington is achieving his goal through putting pressure on rather than encouraging his son. Everything is fine as long as Deivinho maintains his status as a top soccer player, including attending regular sessions and even taking a leave of absence from school. This also demonstrates how well-liked the sport is in Brazil.mars one sundance, mars one film, mars one film review, mars one tribeca, watch mars one, mars one cast, mars one full movie, klondike sundance, mars one day,*mars one netflix ending, mars season 1

Wellington approaches a well-known soccer player at his place of employment and requests assistance with Deivinho. The player arranges for Deivinho to participate in the soccer club’s tryouts. Wellington happily nods, but he is unaware that Deivinho has other intentions for that day. Deivinho informs his father that he has another event that day during the family dinner. Deivinho purchases a ticket to a live event with renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson with the aid of his sister. Deivinho, caught in a tight circumstance, yields to his father’s insistence and does not continue to fight.

Deivinho’s pals continue to refer to him as a chicken the next day for not riding his bike down a hill. He pedals his bicycle to the bottom of the hill as he closes his eyes since he is sick of hearing the insult. His bike flips over in the span of a split second. He sustains a broken leg in the incident, much to his father’s dismay. He won’t be able to participate in the tryouts if he has a plaster on his foot. Wellington scolds Deivinho for not being cautious rather than worrying about his son’s safety. Wellington also saw Deivinho’s irresponsibility as shattering his dreams.

We now know that Deivinho intentionally breaks his leg. He encounters that hill and his pals’ slurs at least twice in the film. But more than just petty comments motivated him to ride the hill at that precise moment. Regarding soccer and professional tryouts, he feels that his father is pressuring him to do something he does not want to do. Wellington makes judgements without regard for Deivinho’s aspirations and then expects him to follow them. As a result of the strain and consequent failure to realise his father’s expectations, Deivinho eventually falls off the bike and breaks his leg. On some level, he believes that hurting himself is simpler than upsetting his father by saying no.

Does Tercia’s Curse Get Lifted?

Tercia, the family’s mother, has an odd impression that she attracts ill karma to others who are in her immediate vicinity. It all begins with the awful joke that leaves her speechless. In the second instance, Tercia experiences claustrophobia while dancing. Another woman collapses and hits the ground as she exits the building. Tercia is afraid because horrible things keep happening to her. She also experiences a persistent constriction in her chest and struggles to sleep at night.mars one sundance, mars one film, mars one film review, mars one tribeca, watch mars one, mars one cast, mars one full movie, klondike sundance, mars one day,*mars one netflix ending, mars season 1

She accidentally threatens the life of her employer, which makes matters worse. Toquinho feels unwell and keeps throwing up because of the terrible juice. Tercia places the guilt on herself because she bought his groceries. She also visits a conventional shaman to have the bad energy exorcised. They yet pursue her everywhere she goes. She once violently shoves a passenger seated next to her in a bus, seriously hurting him. Wellington and she talk about her worries at home, and they decide to send Tercia away for the weekend.

When Tercia brings Deivinho home when he injured his leg, we think the curse is broken. Later, she learns that the bus she was meant to be riding on crashed off a cliff. She expresses gratitude to the heavens and is glad to be alive. During the day, she spends time with her family as things start to get better. She finally drifts off to sleep quietly with her cherished family by her side. This demonstrates the value of family support in life. Together, they can defeat anything, from a nasty curse to unemployment.

Why Does Wellington Get Fired?

Wellington maintains the grounds and cleans up at a housing complex where he works. Flavio, a coworker, thinks that revolution is the only way to end the exploitation of poor employees by wealthy people. As a long-time employee, Wellington has the trust of their supervisor, Dircinha. She always leaves the keys with Wellington while she is away so he can take care of the houseplants and the kitties.mars one sundance, mars one film, mars one film review, mars one tribeca, watch mars one, mars one cast, mars one full movie, klondike sundance, mars one day,*mars one netflix ending, mars season 1

In order to secure a health certificate in time for Deivinho’s soccer trials, Wellington must depart early on a particular day. He gives Flavio charge of taking care of the cats and watering the plants at Dircinha’s house. Flavio, on the other hand, is cleaning the building out with his friends for other reasons. All of Dircinha’s belongings are stolen by Flavio, who then flees. When Dircinha learns, she accuses Wellington because she gave him the key. Wellington is thus dismissed from his position.

The circumstance also illustrates how unpredictable people can be. You never know what lies underneath someone’s innocence, no matter how earnest they appear to be. Initially, Flavio made his plans apparent, but Wellington was not aware of his sincerity. Flavio uses this as a means of starting a revolt against affluent people. He believes that those who are wealthy and successful and who reside in mansions profit from the plight of the poor. He moves his quest for equality one step closer by robbing Dircinha.
