Maurice ‘Big Moe’ Brighthaupt: Updates on His Life Post-Scandal

“Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me” on Netflix is a documentary directed by Ursula Macfarlane that humanises a young woman who is frequently portrayed as a cartoon by the media. It is unlike any other documentary. This is due to the fact that it includes never-before-seen material in addition to exclusive interviews with a few significant figures to truly shed light on the circumstances surrounding her terrible life and death. Maurice “Big Moe” Brighthaupt, who was once her personal bodyguard but is now a friend, was one of them; if you just want to know more about him, we have all the information you need.

Who is Maurice “Big Moe” Brighthaupt?

Maurice, a Florida resident who was born in Washington, supposedly met Anna for the first time back in 2003. He quickly became her “right hand person as far as security” was concerned. But like any famous person who had been abused as well as mistreated as frequently as she had, she didn’t believe him until he explicitly stated that he saw her as his little sister. In the original, he said, “I think she tested me to see if I was trustworthy to be with her.” She would say things like, ‘Do you believe I’m attractive? Would you like to explore further with this?

Maurice went on, “I told Anna that I truly thought of her as a little sister at that moment while staring her in the eye. She cried a tiny bit. “You know what, I’m so glad I met you,” she murmured. After working with her for approximately two days, I began referring to her as my baby girl. From then on, she addressed me as Momo. Consequently, they developed a close bond and he witnessed all of her hardships, including her alleged drug use – he famously remarked, “Anna had a bag of meds she would take with her.”

Since the model-actress was using drugs almost daily and her entire inner circle, including him, supported her, Maurice has even openly stated that she was a true addict. That’s because, despite her body’s reaction to the drug use, she could always achieve amazing things — “She would sleep a lot,” he said. But once she was well, she was a joyful, carefree young woman who loved the spotlight and her fans. I was supposed to shield her from herself, but I was unable to do so.

Even though Anna was under the influence, Maurice maintains that she was in charge of every part of her life, both personal and professional, and that she made her own decisions all the way to the end. The former basketball player for Northeastern University noted in the production, “Anna knew how to work it.” “…she would immediately get rid of anyone who she felt was attempting to control her.” He also once said that it was impossible to put anything over on her. She wasn’t idly taking medications while sitting there.

The 39-year-old’s premonition of dying to be with her darling son just days before it actually happened on February 8, 2007, however, is the one occurrence Maurice remembers the most vividly. In actuality, on September 10, 2006, three days after the birth of his maternal half-sister Dannielynn, 20-year-old Daniel passed away due to an accidental overdose, and Anne never fully recovered. In a 2017 exclusive interview, he told The Daily Mail, “[Her] only real rock was her son.” Since she had him when she was so young, they were basically raised together. They had no separation.

“[Anne’s] heart was truly broken when he died,” Maurice continued. Her daughter Dannielynn saved her life, otherwise, I believe she would have passed away much sooner. It’s unlikely that she would have survived even a week. After his passing, there were moments when she believed he was still alive. She would then have to hear from us why he was gone, and she would experience that terrible pain once more. Even though I hold myself and others accountable for her passing, I don’t believe that she could have been spared the suffering that followed Daniel’s death. Ultimately, she also died from an unintentional drug overdose.

Maurice “Big Moe” Brighthaupt is Serving as a Firefighter-Paramedic Now

When Anna was discovered unconscious in her Floria hotel room that fateful day, Maurice was the last man in her inner circle to be around her and had been doing CPR for at least ten minutes. As a result, he was questioned extensively by the authorities. This is also the reason he was called upon to testify in subsequent court proceedings to determine whether psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, and the star’s partner, lawyer Howard Stern, would be put on trial for allegedly plotting to give her illegal controlled substances; in the end, the charges against them were dropped.

Regarding Maurice’s present status, it appears that the author of “Baby Girl: My Life Protecting Anna Nicole Smith” (2007) has permanently left the bodyguarding industry. Rather, the now mid-50-year-old devotes all of his time and efforts to working as a firefighter and paramedic for the city of Miami, Florida, a job of which he is obviously quite proud. This is because it gives him the opportunity to be a role model and support his loving wife, kids, and grandchildren in addition to enabling him to accomplish something noble.
