Michael Townson: Where is the Serial Killer Now?

  • DCS

Residents of Titusville, Florida, were horrified when Sherri Lynn Carman, 29, was discovered dead in her home on January 17, 2007. Although it was her boyfriend who discovered the body, Michael Townson, the victim’s boyhood friend, was swiftly implicated in the crime. He was later found guilty of the murder and given a prison term. Then in 2020, Michael dropped a bombshell when he called police and admitted to a 1991 homicide that had never been investigated. The horrifying confession is detailed in Crime Junkie’s “CAPTURED: Michael Townson,” which also walks the audience through his crimes. Therefore, let’s examine the specifics and learn where Michael is right now.

Who is Michael Townson?

Michael Townson, a Florida resident, has a significant criminal history. Also, according to authorities, he had a difficult childhood because the serial murderer subsequently claimed his father and grandfather sexually assaulted him when he was pretty young. Michael claimed that his mother and the other ladies in his life resisted helping him even though they were in a position to do so and keep him safe. He claimed that his disdain for women sprang from this action, which left him feeling bitterly betrayed.

Michael was a career criminal who was detained and found guilty in 1994 of robbery, grand theft, and burglary. The judge therefore gave him a 17-year prison term, but in 2006, he was released on parole. After being released from prison, the ex-offender was looking for a place to reside when he ran with Sherri Lynn Carman, a friend from his youth. Michael was accepted into her home right away, and he spent several months living with her and her lover.

On January 17, 2007, Sherri’s boyfriend eventually went back to the house but discovered it was deserted. Michael was nowhere to be found, but he discovered his girlfriend unconscious beneath a mountain of laundry. He dialled 911 right away, distraught and anxious, but when emergency personnel arrived, they confirmed she had passed away. Furthermore, although the victim had blunt force damage at the time of the initial medical examination, the autopsy revealed that the murderer had bludgeoned the victim to death with a hammer. The victim’s boyfriend and the police saw Michael as the main suspect because he was the only person in the house with Sherri.

In addition, after being arrested, Michael did not refute killing his childhood friend. Instead, he said that after having intercourse with Sherri, he discovered she had AIDS. The murderer continued to argue that this sparked a fit of wrath in him, which led to him beating Sherri to death. Readers should be aware, though, that a medical evaluation revealed the victim to be free of the illness. Nevertheless, Michael quickly entered a plea of guilty to first-degree murder and was given a life sentence without the possibility of release in 2008.

Where is Michael Townson Now?

Michael appeared to have embraced spiritualism when he was incarcerated, and some of his other convicts stated that he had become highly pious. This caused him to feel fairly guilty about what he had done, and he then developed a strong desire to make things right. Therefore, in 2020, Michael got in touch with the police and confessed to killing Linda Little, who vanished from Daytona Beach in October 1991.

On October 11, 1991, Michael asserted that he met Linda at a bar in Daytona Beach; as a result, the victim vanished and was never heard from again. The missing woman’s body has never been located, despite the police doing everything they could to find her and even treating the case like a homicide after a certain point. Only when Michael admitted to killing Linda did the investigation finally make a substantial progress.

Prosecutors accused Michael with Linda’s murder and called him to testify after getting a confession. He could have received the death penalty, but he chose not to by admitting guilt to the first-degree murder of Linda Little. As a result, in 2022, the judge will sentence Michael to 25 years to life in jail. He also admitted to two additional murders in Memphis, Tennessee, according to sources, but he hasn’t been put on trial for those crimes either. The Central Florida Receiving Center in Orlando, Orange County, Florida, is where Michael Townsend is currently imprisoned.
