Another show that is a fan favorite is unexpectedly ending. The young adult mystery series One of Us Is Lying, which has so far aired two seasons, has been canceled by Peacock. It was revealed on Friday that the show would not have a second season.
There was a cliffhanger in the second season conclusion, and many viewers were eager to see how the youngsters’ tale developed. Peacock, however, had other ideas for the series.
One of Us Is Lying Canceled After Two Seasons
According to reports, Peacock officials approved of the program, but “the series did not attract enough audience to gain another season.” The show’s creators, Universal Content Productions, are currently looking for a new platform to air it on.
Many people were shocked to learn of the show’s cancellation because there were still many unanswered questions. Soon after the second season ended in October 2022, showrunner Erica Saleh revealed the details of season 3.
“I firmly believe that Bayview would experience yet another mystery and the introduction of other dark forces. Fiona is Simon Says, though. I’m really interested to investigate in Season 3 what deeper evil is hiding beneath the surface in Bayview, Saleh had stated, adding, “Everyone’s going to have to wait ’til Season 3 to find out!
The Second Season Ended with a Cliffhanger
The Murder Club believed they had moved past all the tragedy and tragedies at the conclusion of the previous season. However, a peek of another crime scene at the school was revealed on graduation day. Nate gave Bronwyn the “Stay” necklace, which was used as proof. At least on Peacock, this now signifies the conclusion of the series.
The announcement coincides with the streaming service’s recent modifications to its selection of shows. Another popular teen drama, Vampire Academy, has also been canceled in addition to One of Us is Lying. The platform is reportedly working on the next phase of its content while also ordering a number of new series.
One of Us Is Lying was Based on a Novel
The television program is based on Karen M. McManus’ 2017 novel of the same name. The eight-episode first season of the show debuted in October 2021, and the second season followed a year later.
According to the show’s official synopsis, Simon, Addy, Cooper, Bronwyn, and Nate are among the five pupils at Bayview High who are assigned to detention. Simon, who is well-known for founding an online gossip club with his companion Janae to leak information about his classmates, has an unexpected allergic reaction that proves fatal.
After it is established that Simon’s murder was not an accident, an inquiry begins. “Each of the four pupils had a motive to kill Simon,” it said. Alimi Ballard, Marianly Tejada, Chibuikem Uche, Barrett Carnahan, Jessica McLeod, Melissa Collazo, Sara Thompson, and Cooper van Grootel were all prominent actors in the ensemble.
