The second season of the well-liked Isekai anime “Re:Zero — Starting Life in Another World” ended in March of this year, concluding its adaptation of the fourth arc of the original light novel. “Re:Zero,” which was initially authored by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shin’ichir Tsuka, debuted online in 2012. Soon after, a manga version was published, and in 2016 came the well-known anime adaptation.
The show uses a formula that is common to many Isekai anime. Subaru Natsuki, a young shut-in who is mysteriously and suddenly transported to an alternative fantasy world, is the main character (via Anime News Network). This typical Isekai opening, however, is upended when Subaru learns that he was also unexpectedly given a rare talent. Similar to how checkpoints work in video games, Subaru’s “Return by Death” power enables him to go back in time at a predetermined, random point after dying. With the help of practise and careful strategy, the typical Subaru can resolve dispute.
Fans are now wondering if the anime will continue its adaptation of the novels after the recent finish of the second season. Much of the events from the novels have not yet been adapted, giving the anime a four-year advantage. Here is what is known so far regarding “Re:Zero” Season 3 in light of that.
When will Re:Zero Season 3 release?
No official statements concerning the release of “Re:Zero” Season 3 have been made as of yet. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the preceding season, which was split into two parts, to be postponed. It is therefore difficult to predict when the series’ anime adaptors, White Fox, will continue working on it. A release date as late as 2025 has been predicted by sources like The Cinemaholic, however this is simply a prediction.
But in a 2020 interview with Crunchyroll, one of the show’s creators, Sho Tanaka, hinted at the prospect of a third season, saying, “Once you’ve finished watching this one, I’m sure you’ll all be begging for a third season. Please anticipate it.” In light of this, fans of the popular Isekai anime “Re:Zero” can relax in the knowledge that there is a good chance they will see a third season.
Who will be in Re:Zero Season 3’s cast?
If “Re:Zero” Season 3 does air, a sizable chunk of the original cast is probably going to stay on the show. Subaru is voiced in Japanese by Yûsuke Kobayashi, according to IMDb (“Dr. Stone,” “Food Wars”). Sean Chiplock provides his English voice for him (“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu”).
Also anticipated to return are the original voice performers for the supporting characters. This contains Rem (Inori Minase/Brianna Knickerbocker), Ram (Rie Murakawa/Ryan Bartley), and Emilia (Rie Takahashi/Kayli Mills).
The cast and crew of “Re:Zero” Season 3 are unlikely to undergo any drastic changes, although viewers may anticipate hearing some new voices as the show introduces new characters. Unfortunately, there have been no formal announcements about the Season 3 cast. Fans will have to wait to see if “Re:Zero” makes any new cast selections in this scenario.
What’s the plot of Re:Zero Season 3?
Since “Re:Zero” Season 2 only covered “Arc 4” of the original light novels, White Fox has much more “Re:Zero” to adapt (via Re:Zero Wiki). The most recent story arc featured Subaru and Emilia as they made an effort to free the Sanctuary residents who were imprisoned by an enigmatic magical barrier.
Subaru and his companions battle to unite the Royal Election Camps in Watergate City in order to confront the Witch Cultists who have taken power in “Arc 5,” where the anime’s plot is supposed to pick up. It is currently unknown whether the anime will only adapt this arc or carry on throughout the entire season.
Fans may be sure that Season 3 will have many of the plot components that make “Re:Zero” unique. In other words, Subaru’s Return By Death ability will continue to be both a blessing and a curse as “Re:Zero” maintains its longstanding heritage of cruelty and psychological anguish. Any additional information, though, is probably being held off until the (hopefully) impending release of the show.
