Saw Gerrera Timeline Explained In Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

  • DCS

At E3 2019, EA debuted the first gameplay clips from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and they appeared to be quite enjoyable. The character played by Forest Whitaker in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Saw Gerrera, will feature in the game, which is the big takeaway for keen Star Wars fans.

What role does this game play in the overall Saw Gerrera narrative? After all, Gerrera has already made an appearance in the animated television series Rebels, The Clone Wars, and Rogue One. You’ve reached to the right place if you’re wondering how to see Saw’s adventure again. So let’s go to work.

The Clone Wars Explored Saw Gerrera’s Origins

Saw Gerrera experienced his first battle in the anime series Clone Wars, which took place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. When the character first appeared in this show, Andrew Kishino provided his voice.

If you want to view this story for yourself, you must watch all of season five of The Clone Wars. Check out “A War on Two Fronts,” “Front Runners,” “The Soft War,” and “Tipping Point,” which are the four episodes.

These episodes make it clear that Saw hails from the planet Onderon, which the droid army conquered during the Clone Wars on Count Dooku’s command. To teach the villagers how to fight, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano travelled to the area. Some of this training was given to Saw, who contributed to the conflict’s outcome. However, because Steela, Saw’s sister, lost her life in the battle, it wasn’t a wholly joyful win.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

The events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order take place after Revenge of the Sith. The cruel Order 66 of Emperor Palpatine has all but destroyed the Jedi Order; the player will be in control of Cal Kestis, a Padawan who is on the run.

Cal is compelled to come out of hiding after some time to aid the first iteration of the Rebel Alliance. He’ll be sent on a mission to the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, which the Empire has been occupying. At this point, the player will encounter Saw Gerrera, a game character whose appearance is obviously based on Forest Whitaker.

The player enters an action-packed series of events when Saw sends Cal in the correct path to rescue several Wookiees. It’s unknown how significant Saw’s participation in Fallen Order will be because the game doesn’t release until Nov. 15. But we’re interested in finding out.

Star Wars Rebels Shows Saw Nearly Discovering the Death Star

The animated Star Wars Rebels series takes place in the final five years before the events of the original trilogy begin, which is quite a bit later in the history than the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Whitaker provided the voice of Saw Gerrera, who appeared a few times in the series. He originally appears in the two-part “Ghosts of Geonosis” episode of season 3 before reappearing in the two-part “In the Name of the Rebellion” episode of season 4. You should add those episodes to your list if you intend to watch Saw Gerrera in its entirety.

Saw and his Partisans, a branch of the Rebel Alliance, look into the enigmatic disappearance of the native Geonosis inhabitants in “Ghosts of Geonosis.” They are unable to fully comprehend how the Empire destroyed the native population after building the Death Star in Geonosis’ orbit. When Saw makes a cameo in season 4, he has figured out that the Empire’s plans to create a superweapon included Kyber crystals. Which beautifully brings us into…

Rogue One Finishes Saw Gerrera’s Story

In Rogue One, Saw Gerrera appears twice in the story. Right at the beginning, a young Jyn Erso hides underground to flee the Empire until Saw can find her. Later, the two are reunited when Jyn’s search as an adult leads her to Jedha. As a result of their extreme tactics, Saw and his Partisans are now operating in a very distinct manner from the broader Rebel Alliance. Saw needs a respirator to breathe and robot legs to get around, so he’s obviously been through a lot.

The information in Saw’s communication from her father—which details the Death Star’s vulnerability, which Luke Skywalker will eventually exploit—is crucial for the Rebellion’s survival and the salvation of the galaxy. When the Death Star destroys Saw’s base on Jedha, he has contributed to the destruction of the Empire and passes away there. The story of Saw is over, but it doesn’t imply we know everything that happened throughout his life.

The Saw Gerrera timeline will be expanded upon in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and there are countless other Star Wars novels that contain additional tidbits of knowledge about the character. Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, which describes how Saw came to know Jyn’s family, is one particularly fascinating book. It’s also worthwhile to read the novelization of Solo: A Star Wars Story because it reveals that Enfys Nest was stealing fuel for Saw’s Partisans in that film.

We anticipate what Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will bring to Saw’s tale and the larger galaxy when it debuts on November 15.
