The episode “Deadly Women: Bad to the Bone” on Investigation Discovery tells the story of how 51-year-old British solicitor David Edwards was murdered in his Chorley, Lancashire, home in August 2015. The killer was quickly apprehended by police, who simply needed to visit the crime scene. We have all the information you need if you’re interested in learning more about the case, including who the murderer was. So let’s get started, shall we?
Who is Sharon Edwards?
Sharon Manser, a single mother of 27, and David, her future husband, met unexpectedly in 2000. She had accused John Pritchard, her ex-partner, of assaulting her, and David served as John’s attorney. He even cross-examined Sharon, who represented herself as a victim of domestic abuse, in court. But John was found not guilty on all counts, and Sharon subsequently sought to David for counsel over a neighborly conflict. But in 2014, when David sent her a Facebook friend request, their paths once more intersected, and they started dating.
David was a well-known attorney and a partner at the renowned Stanley H Cross & Co. law company in Chorley, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom. He was wealthy and had a daughter from a previous union. David was referred to as “a highly fascinating person with a wry grin” in a letter that was read aloud during the trial. He was always proud of his reputation and integrity as a court officer, the statement continued. Every member of the Chorley bench held David in the highest regard.
According to accounts, Sharon was drawn to David’s money and social standing despite the fact that she already had four children from prior marriages. In the middle of 2015, the pair exchanged vows in a grand wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. She referred to David as “my true love,” “soulmate,” and “beloved” in their vows. She said, “One year ago today, you entered my life, and I can honestly say you turned it upside down and swept me off my feet. I’m wearing a tiara, a white sleeveless lace gown, and holding a bouquet of lilies. You have demonstrated to me what real love is.
But, due to suspicious bruises that emerged on David’s face and arms, his acquaintances and coworkers were cautious of his new bride. On his wedding day, he was even purportedly spotted trying in vain to cover up a black eye by donning makeup. Friends and coworkers who had expressed their worries for his wellbeing after observing his frequent injuries, a notable loss in his formerly exquisite sense of style, and “his professionalism as a solicitor, in his self-respect,” testified throughout the trial.
His coworkers described to the jury how the well-liked and respected attorney would arrive at work bloodied and beaten. The program claimed that Sharon tossed objects, including coffee tables and ashtrays, during heated disputes and instances of domestic violence. According to reports, David initially made excuses for his injuries, saying he had walked into doors or fallen down stairs. David had an unwavering love and faithfulness for Sharon, and he never did report the abuse to the authorities, despite his friends’ repeated requests.
Where is Sharon Edwards Now?
According to testimony given in court, the couple returned on August 22, 2015, after taking an all-expenses-paid vacation to the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca). David’s teenage daughter, who was 19 at the time, reportedly discovered him in the bathroom bleeding from his chest and leg upon their return. When Sharon was questioned, she argued that she hadn’t meant to hurt him. David was reportedly observed later that evening at a nearby tavern bleeding from a chest and head wound. Witnesses asserted that when she saw his blood, her inebriated wife acted “callously uncaring.”
After leaving the pub, a policeman came into the couple arguing in the street. The body camera of the policeman captured Sharon yelling, “I’m going to f****** murder ya. David, I swear, I have no idea how I’ll feel when I get up tomorrow. The next day, a 13-inch black-handled kitchen knife was used to fatally kill David. As they argued about tax credits, according to Sharon, she allegedly stabbed him. They allegedly even had sex before she passed out on the couch since she didn’t think he was dead.
David’s adolescent daughter discovered the body and reported it to the police. The police detained Sharon after learning of her extensive history of domestic violence, which included prior convictions stemming from an attack in 2004 in which she bit and punched a former partner. Police reports state that 51-year-old David suffered 60 external wounds, 30 of which were stab wounds or prod wounds, including wounds to his thigh, knee, finger, and shallow wound on his scalp. Sharon allegedly became increasingly abusive, according to the authorities, after David lost his job at his company.
“Sharon acted in a controlling and possessive manner with her husband and seemed to detest any of his past or even present acquaintances, relatives, and coworkers,” the prosecution claimed. There is no proof that he ever used physical force to defend himself against her attacks. The 42-year-old lady was given a life sentence in prison in March 2016 and was told that she would have to serve at least 20 years behind bars before being eligible for parole. Sharon, who is now in her late 40s, is thought to be detained in a prison in Manchester.
