Dark Net (2016–2017)
Mati Kochavi is the creator of the documentary television programme “Dark Net.” It looks into the darker, frequently upsetting side of the internet. Hemlock Grove (2013–2015)
Brian McGreevy’s horror drama series “Hemlock Grove” is based on his 2012 novel of the same name. Joel de la Fuente, Landon Liboiron, Famke Janssen, and Bill Skarsgrd play the key characters. The show takes place in the titular Pennsylvanian little town, and it follows the strange locals as they learn the area’s darkest and scariest secrets. Similar to “Red Rose,” the series combines elements of horror with youthful drama and insightful societal commentary. Despite being a fictional town, Hemlock Grove resembles Bolton from “Red Rose” in terms of aesthetics and themes, so it’s worth watching “Hemlock Grove.”
Scream (2015-2019)
The anthology slasher series “Scream” was created by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin, and Jay Beattie for television. It is loosely based on the Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven film series of the same name. The first two seasons revolve on Emma Duval, a young woman who becomes embroiled in a murder investigation in the town of Lakewood. The third season centres on Deion Elliot, an Atlanta-based teen football sensation who is being pursued by the evil Ghostface. The series examines youngsters facing potentially fatal situations while playing twisted psychological games with them by mysterious adversaries, much as “Red Rose.” ‘Red Rose’ has been compared to the original film series, earning its television counterpart the #1 rank on this list!
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
The Haunting of Bly Manor is the second work by Mike Flanagan on our list. The 1898 novella “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James served as the basis for the horror series, which also incorporates aspects from the author’s earlier writings. It follows what happens in the titular rural manor once a young American woman arrives to take care of the two kids that live there. The “Red Rose” founders, the Clarkson twins, served as co-producers and used the series to launch their careers in the horror genre. Thematically and in terms of narrative structure, the series significantly departs from “Red Rose.” The young people in both episodes, however, are faced with life-threatening circumstances that are unprecedented. The Midnight Club will appeal to horror aficionados who enjoy societal critique laced with eerie storytelling.
The Pact (2021-)
The British anthology series “The Pact,” created by Pete McTighe, is a thriller. It explores the tales of a collection of individuals who are linked by their secrets. In the first season, four friends struggle with their boss’s death, which is a mystery. The second chapter centres on three siblings whose allegiances are put to the test when a mystery visitor shows up. Similar British sensibilities and aesthetics are followed in this series as in “Red Rose.” It also examines how far a person will go to defend a loved one. Because they experience similar emotional issues, viewers will notice similarities between the characters of the episode and the Dickheads from “Red Rose.”
