What happened to Sid after Toy Story is revealed by an Easter egg in Toy Story 3. Woody and Buzz Lightyear returned in the third instalment of Pixar’s cherished animation series for a totally different kind of adventure. The plot of Toy Story 3 centres on Andy starting college and the toys accidentally being given to Sunnyside Daycare. Here, Woody and the other toys run across Lotso Huggin Bear, the wicked plush animal in charge of the business.
Lotso’s inclusion in Toy Story 3 continued the series’ solid tradition of producing outstanding villains. He was considerably different from the villains in Toy Story 2 Al McWhiggan and Stinky Pete, and he illustrated the dark side of toys that have been abandoned by their original owners. Toy Story, however, began with a totally different kind of antagonist. While Woody and Buzz’s antagonism dominates the most of the film, Sid, the unsettling boy next door who enjoys Frankensteining toys, poses the ultimate threat to the toys in general.
After Woody and the other toys came to life in front of him and greatly frightened the toy bully, Sid’s tale in Toy Story came to an end. Sid and what happened to him after this terrifying incident are not mentioned in Toy Story 2, but a Toy Story 3 Easter egg provided the solution. Some viewers might not have spotted Sid’s brief appearance in the movie. Woody rushes to the trash to save his fellow toys before the garbage truck arrives after he believes Andy’s mother has thrown them away. The garbage man can be seen momentarily during this scene wearing a black shirt with a white skull on it underneath his uniform. Several years later and still donning the same outfit from his boyhood, this garbage man is Sid from Toy Story.
Only a small portion of Sid’s life after Toy Story is seen in the Toy Story 3 Easter egg, but it is still better than nothing. Most people might not consider being a garbage guy to be a glamorous job, but Sid appears to be enjoying it in Toy Story 3. The former antagonist from Toy Story seems to be having a great time gathering trash and listening to music. Sid’s enjoyment of something like this is also partially understandable given his history of destructive behaviour as a child. He is now hired to collect objects from all across the city and crush them with the garbage truck.
Other information regarding Sid’s life can also be learned through his appearance in Toy Story 3. Sid probably never left the city because he still works as a garbage man in the same area where he grew up. Even after all these years, it’s plausible that he still resides with his family and that Andy is still his neighbour from Toy Story 3. In order to preserve his work and remain close to his mother and sister, he might have forgone college or be enrolled in a nearby university. Even though Toy Story 3 doesn’t go into much detail about Sid’s life, finding that small Easter egg is wonderful and demonstrates the attention to detail Pixar puts into each of its films.
