Unveiling the Filming Locations of ‘Thank You for Your Service’: Where Was It Shot?

‘Thank You for Your Service’ is a biographical war drama film that was based on the 2013 nonfiction book of the same name by David Finkel. It follows a group of US soldiers as they attempt to return to their normal civilian lives with their respective families after serving in the warzones of Iraq and undergo physical and emotional rehabilitation. Tausolo Aeiti has a traumatic brain injury while Sergeant Adam Schumann goes home and tries to adjust to everyday life after the war.

Will Waller seeks out normalcy in his life after becoming the target of multiple explosions during the war. Michael Emory, on the other hand, has to deal with the effects of taking a sniper’s bullet to the head. The troops attempt to cope with the physical and emotional pain in their own unique ways, their memories of the conflict still fresh in their minds. The movie, which was directed by Jason Hall and features Miles Teller, Haley Bennett, Beulah Koale, Amy Schumer, and Scott Haze, takes place both on the battlefield and in the city, with the change of scenery serving to emphasise how the soldiers’ lives are changing. Given how frequently exterior shots are filmed in the city, there is a good chance that you will recognise a few well-known structures and landmarks in the background of several scenes. They are the Fox Theatre, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Bank of America Plaza, Centennial Olympic Park, and Georgia State Capitol. In addition to ‘Thank You for Your Service,’ the Atlanta metropolitan region has over the years served as the location for a number of film and television productions. In fact, the locations of the region have appeared in the films “Hidden Figures,” “American Made,” “War Dogs,” “Mile 22,” and “Citadel.”

Morocco

A few members of the cast and crew also travelled to Morocco, popularly known as the Kingdom of Morocco, to film additional scenes for “Thank You for Your Service.” Morocco, which is a country in Northwestern Africa’s Maghreb area, has a wide, adaptable, and culturally significant landscape that serves as a distinctive backdrop for various projects. You might be able to recognise some of the country’s well-known and historically significant sights and monuments, like the Sahara Desert, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, the enormous Hassan II Mosque, and the Koutoubia Mosque.
