Christopher Miller is the creator of the comedy-drama series “The Afterparty” on Apple TV+. In the second season of the programme, Danner and Aniq look into the murder of billionaire Edgar Minnows, who was discovered dead the morning following his wedding. In the fifth episode, Danner questions Sebastian, Edgar’s business partner, who seems to have a very specific motivation for the killing. Sebastian’s tale, on the other hand, makes some startling admissions that put almost everyone at the wedding under suspicion for the crime. The Afterparty Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
The unpleasant encounter between the Minnows and Zhu families opens the fifth episode, “Sebastian.” But Isabel seizes the chance to charge Grace of murdering her son. In retaliation for Isabel, Zoe reveals that Hannah’s garden provided the poison that was used to kill Edgar. Then Isabell implies that Grace and her family orchestrated Edgar’s slaying so they could inherit his wealth. In the meantime, Sebastian is still running the show without Edgar. The next suspect in Aniq and Danner’s investigation is Sebastian.
Danner questions Sebastian about Edgar’s decision to fire him just a few days before the nuptials. Zoe confronts Aniq about Isabel’s accusations in another location. Aniq wants Zoe to gather proof for her assertions. Sebastian denies killing Edgar in the meanwhile. Sebastian acknowledges that Edgar fired him, but he insists that he was not angry with his business partner. In order to introduce his side of the tale, Sebastian tells Aniq and Danner about his early years in California. Sebastian was a small-time hustler who would swindle people out of their money, along with his cousins Judson and Jaxson. Sebastian made the decision to leave the life of petty crime, nevertheless. He managed to trick his way into a posh boarding school as a result.
Sebastian met Edgar at the boarding school, where he faked a British accent to dazzle his classmates. Despite having a low opinion of Sebastian, Edgar was intrigued by one of his unique baseball trading cards. In a game of Connect 4 for the card, Edgar and Sebastian competed, with Edgar outwitting Sebastian to steal the priceless artefact. However, it resulted in the friendship between Sebastian and Edgar growing, which enabled them to pull off major scams like creating a sizable hedge fund to defraud people. A few days before the nuptials, Edgar learned that Sebastian had withheld 20% of their money, which cost him money. Sebastian was consequently let go by Edgar for undermining him.
To avoid any commotion, Edgar begs Sebastian to postpone submitting his letter of resignation until after the wedding. Sebastian was disappointed, nevertheless, when Edgar fired him from his corporate empire. Vivian and Feng are currently attempting to get rid of the centrepiece flowers they had acquired as a souvenir. But when Isabel finds them, she accuses them of murdering her son before Zoe and Grace come clean and say Vivian is a hoarder. Sebastian, on the other hand, explains that in order to assist him in committing a theft, he broke his relatives out of jail. The safe in Edgar’s office, which holds all of his cryptocurrency money, is Sebastian’s goal.
The Afterparty Season 2 Episode 5 Ending: Did Sebastian Kill Edgar?
In the climactic scene of the show, Sebastian describes how he committed a theft to break into Edgar’s safe. He was stopped by Edgar, nevertheless, before he could flee with the stolen goods. Sebastian says he never desired the cash. The baseball card Edgar had was all he wanted back because it marked the beginning of their friendship and collaboration. Sebastian wanted to retake the card because Edgar had fired him from the business and ended their collaboration. But after being caught by Edgar, they engaged in another game of Connect 4.
Sebastian replaced the card with a duplicate because he knew he couldn’t defeat Edgar; however, Edgar tore the duplicate card to pieces. Sebastian ultimately presents a compelling argument as to why he is not Edgar’s killer, but his claim can only be supported by Edgar, who is now deceased. Aniq is certain that Sebastian is responsible for Edgar’s murder as a result. Sebastian does, however, also admit that he was Ulysses tampering with a drink at the bar. Danner makes the decision to go on the investigation and reveals that she allowed Sebastian to captivate her in order for him to err.
Danner makes the decision to tell Aniq why she resigned her position as a police detective in the interim. Hannah alleges she lied to Danner during her interrogation when Zoe overhears her talking to Grace by the pool. Apparently revealing Edgar’s killing was a result of a broader scheme and Sebastian’s cop was only a small part of it, the episode finishes with two new leads for Danner and Aniq. Sebastian, however, cannot be completely eliminated as a suspect until conclusive proof of his innocence is discovered.
