On September 8, 2023, Apple TV+’s horror fantasy series The Changeling debuted with much fanfare. The series’ first season will conclude on Friday, October 13, 2023.
However, the next concern that arises for fans of the show is, “Will there be a second season of The Changeling?” Continue scrolling to find out if The Changeling has been renewed for a second season.
Will the series ‘The Changeling’ be renewed for season 2?
The answer to the query posed above is no. Apple Studios has not yet officially renewed the series The Changeling, which is based on the mediaeval European mythical entity changeling created by Victor LaValle.
The Changeling tells the tale of a father who searches for his vanished wife and child. Eventually, the story takes a mythological turn, diverging from the titular characters.
LaKeith Stanfield, Adina Porter, Clark Barko, Samuel T. Herring, Jared Abrahamson, Amirah Vann, Malcolm Barrett, Elena Hurst, Emy Coligado, Kim Roberts, and Dennis Andres star in this television series.
J onathan van Tulleken, the show’s director and executive producer, told Hollywood Reporter, “I’m very proud, and I’m even weirdly proud of the negative reviews, because even the negative reviews are saying, ‘Holy s**t, they really tried something.'” This is the type of television I am interested in producing.”
Is there a possibility for ‘The Changeling’ season 2?
The Changeling is a series developed by Kelly Marcel and directed by Melina Matsoukas for the Apple TV+ streaming service. It is said that occasionally fairies will replace human infants with their own offspring. This concept is introduced throughout the series.
The Changeling is based on Victor LaValle’s 2017 best-selling novel of the same name. Apollo Kagwa, a rare book dealer and new father in New York City, discovers a concealed world of myth and folklore after learning about mysterious events surrounding his wife’s actions.
The themes of the novel are revealed to be love, parenthood, identity, and storytelling. The show also tells the same tale, but it has added pain and real trauma to the plots.
During the same interview, Jonathan van Tulleken revealed that the show’s principal character, LaKeith, desired for it to be more evocative. He stated, “Kelly wanted to write something that was challenging, evocative, and dealt with very complex issues in the manner of the greatest horror and, frankly, fairytales. This is the purpose of stories: to engage us with actual trauma and pain. And she desired to do so in a manner that respected the novel.”
As the first season of The Changeling is only midway through the book, there is still a chance that a second season will be produced. Jonathan added, “The world is meant to be vastly expanded, and I hope that the audience recognises this at the end and is excited to see it grow.” We have only reached the midway point of Victor’s book.
