In a brand-new movie directed by Roland Emerich, the storied opera The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is being retold. A few days ago, the official release date for the musical fantasy movie was announced along with the teaser.
Tim Walker, a young man in the story, attends the renowned Mozart boarding school and uses the magic flute to gain access to a mystical realm. All we know about the movie is included below.
The Magic Flute Release Date
The movie will debut in theatres on March 10, 2023, a Friday. “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s masterwork The Magic Flute has always been my favourite opera ever since I first encountered this beautiful tale as a young adult,” producer Emerich said in a statement announcing the project. I was hooked to the idea of adapting this narrative for the big screen right away.
“I was happy to support the filmmaking team’s noti on when they came to me with it. The entire team used fascinating and creative methods to translate their wonderful vision onto the screen. I’m excited for Shout! Studios to provide this epic trip to viewers so they can once again be mesmerised by the critically acclaimed and internationally renowned music,” he continued.
The Magic Flute Trailer
Tim’s life at the Mozart All Boys Music School is depicted in the trailer. There, he is transported into the world of Mozart’s famous opera and encounters figures that are larger than life, such as the Sarastro, the Queen of the Night, and a gigantic serpent.
According to the official plot summary, the movie is “an engrossing story that follows an adolescent on two journeys: one into a prestigious boarding school to fulfil his goals as a singer, and another into a parallel world full with imagination and adventure.”
Tim has spent his whole childhood fantasising about entering Mozart All Boys Music School, but his first few weeks there immediately present him with a nasty headmaster, the strains of a new relationship, and significant concerns about the sincerity of his singing voice.
The passage continues, “When he finds a mysterious portal in the school library, he is drawn into the wonderful universe of Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute, where imagination has no bounds and the Queen of the Night reigns.
The Magic Flute Star Cast
Iwan Rheon from Game of Thrones, Jack Wolfe from Shadow and Bone, F. Murray Abraham from The White Lotus, Sabine Devieilhe from French opera, Byrnella the Queen of the Night, and Asha Banks from theatre all appear in the cast. Papageno is played by Iwan Rheon.
The remaining cast members are Niamh McCormack as Sophie, Cosima Henman as Olivia, Elliot Courtiour as Paolo, Teddy Teclebrhan as Mr. Baumgartner, Waldemar Kobus as Mr. Suessmayr, and Amir Wilson as Anton Milanesi, Stéfi Celma as Papagena, Rolando Villazón as Enrico Milanesi, Morris Robinson as Sarastro, Stefan Konarske as Monostat
Andrew Lowery wrote the screenplay for Florian Sigl’s production of The Magic Flute. Executive producers include Fabian Wolfart and Christopher Zwickler in addition to Emerich.
