HBO doesn’t appear to take any days off because it’s always launching, announcing, or developing a new show. Hollywood’s greatest actors appear to be involved in every project, and many of them have made the transition to television. It’s a reasonable choice given that HBO seems to draw the best producers, writers, and directors, making at least a couple Emmy nominations for an actor all but a given.
HBO’s calendar always appears to be overflowing with popular shows releasing new episodes week after week. When one ends, it seems as though a new one is sent to make sure you spend your Sunday evenings in front of the television. The network recently finished airing the first season of “House of the Dragon,” which was swiftly followed by Season 2 of “The White Lotus.” The third season of “His Dark Materials” debuted this year and will continue into the next year. “The Last of Us” will debut in January 2023.
Kate Winslet agreed to star in and produce an additional future HBO series earlier this year. This adaption of Hernan Diaz’s best-selling book “Trust” centres on a successful executive who hires a ghostwriter to fix a biography that disparaged him and his wife, essentially rewriting his history. Not only is there more than one HBO series to watch than “Trust,” but Winslet has also been cast in another future HBO production as well, “The Palace.”
When will The Palace be released?
The Palace was first announced by HBO in July 2022, although there is currently no set date for its debut. New casting announcements for the limited series are continually being made, and more are almost certainly on the way. Given that HBO doesn’t appear to have a final draught of the script, it appears that the project is still in its infancy.
The trailer for HBO Max’s future schedule of series suggests that viewers may have to wait a bit before “The Palace” airs. As previously indicated, “The White Lotus” Season 2 is coming to an end, while “His Dark Materials” Season 3 has just begun on the network. The Last of Us, The White House Plumbers, The Idol, Love & Death, and “Full Circle” are just a few of the premieres on HBO Max as we start a new year. There are also a tonne of shows coming back for new seasons. The show’s present state and the network’s busy schedule suggest that “The Palace” will most likely premiere in 2024, at the very latest in late 2023.
What is the plot of The Palace?
HBO has not yet provided any concrete details about “The Palace’s” plot. The limited series centres on a totalitarian dictatorship and depicts the events that take place over the course of a year as it starts to crumble. HBO also refuses to reveal any information about the characters. Since “The Palace” appears to be in its very early stages of development, the writers most likely haven’t finished writing the script. It appears that the limited series’ plot will be totally fictitious, so don’t anticipate it to compete with shows like HBO’s “Chernobyl” or Netflix’s “The Crown.”
It’s difficult to predict what the show will be about precisely given that it’s fictional and that there haven’t been any press releases. We are honoured to be working with this extraordinarily brilliant group of filmmakers on “The Palace,” said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming for HBO. It is a dream come true for us that Will Tracy’s extraordinarily unique, prophetic, and brilliant scripts will be brought to life at HBO by two of our industry’s brightest stars—Kate Winslet and Stephen Frears—who, astonishingly, have never worked together before.
Who is starring in The Palace?
Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant, two A-list Hollywood stars, make their HBO comeback with “The Palace.” This limited series will be Winslet’s fourth collaboration with the network. The English actress won an Emmy for both of her appearances in the HBO films “Mare of Easttown” and “Mildred Pierce,” which both included remarkable performances. She will also play the lead in the upcoming limited series “Trust,” which is expected to star.
Hugh Grant has a long history of collaboration with HBO. An Emmy nomination went to the English actor who played Jonathan Fraser in HBO’s “The Undoing.” Grant and filmmaker Stephen Frears have previously collaborated, so there are other reunions awaiting him on the “The Palace” set as well. Together, they worked on the Emmy-nominated films “Florence Foster Jenkins” and “A Very English Scandal.”
Alongside Winslet and Grant, Matthias Schoenaerts and Andrea Riseborough also appear in “The Palace.” The parts that Schoenaerts played in “Rust and Bone,” “The Danish Girl,” and “Red Sparrow” made him a household name in Belgium. Prior roles for English actor Riseborough include “Oblivion,” “Birdman,” and “Nocturnal Animals.”
Who is producing The Palace?
HBO clearly prefers to keep things in-house because they used a lot of its former cast and staff members for “The Palace.” The limited series was created by executive producer and writer Will Tracy. Prior to this, he collaborated with HBO on the critically acclaimed shows “Succession” and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” Seth Reiss (“The Menu”), Juli Weiner (“Last Week Tonight”), Jen Spyra (“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”), Gary Shteyngart (“Absurdistan”), and Sarah DeLappe join Tracy in the writing space.
Stephen Frears, an English director who worked on “Philomena,” “Florence Foster Jenkins,” and “State of the Union,” will serve as the film’s director. But it’s not yet known how many episodes he’ll direct. As executive producers for the series, Frears, Tracy, Kate Winslet, Frank Rich, and Tracey Seaward will all participate.
The creation of “The Palace” is still in its infancy. Before filming can start, HBO is finalising the cast, crew, and any production-related concerns.
