They might have to come to terms with the fact that they won’t be visiting their cousins in Susannah’s beach cottage again any time soon. They are pushed in this direction by the conclusion. What happens in this episode is as follows. Spoilers follow.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2: Analyzing Episode 5
Conrad, Jeremiah, Belly, Taylor, Steven, Skye, and Cam return to the house after a fun-filled day at the boardwalk to discover it empty. Everything has been removed from the space, giving the impression that no one ever lived there. They are heartbroken to witness it vanish so quickly, but there is nothing they can do to stop it. Conrad and Jeremiah’s father agreed that Julia should sell the house as soon as possible after they spoke about it, Julia admits.
Conrad is angered by Julia’s behaviour, but for the moment, their major worry is finding a place to sleep. Conrad refuses to stay in the house any longer, despite Belly’s suggestion that they retrieve some sleeping bags from the garage. The other members begin to contemplate leaving, but Jeremiah doesn’t want them to give up just yet, so he devises a scheme. He advises that they trespass and spend the night inside the country club.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 5 Ending
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 5 Ending “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is shown from Belly’s perspective, who struggles with her love for both Jeremiah and Conrad. Her internal dialogue aids in her understanding of what she is experiencing at any particular time. As we finally gain access to Jeremiah’s mind and perspective in this episode, the emphasis changes to Jeremiah. It is enjoyable to experience someone else’s perspective for a change, and it provides us with information about how Jeremiah’s life developed during the previous 12 months.
Jeremiah worries about Belly and how things are between them right now, but he also worries about the house and Conrad. We learn via flashbacks that Conrad obtained Jeremiah’s permission before asking Belly out on Halloween. The worst part was that Jeremiah was expected to be alright with the breakup simply because everyone knew Belly always had a crush on Conrad. Jeremiah was still in shock over the breakup, which seemed more like a betrayal from his best friend and brother.
Jeremiah finds himself in a difficult situation with Belly as the two men reconcile their disagreements and rekindle their friendship. He still has feelings for her, and on occasion he believes she feels the same way. Then again, there’s Conrad. Jeremiah is constantly reminded of how devastated he was when Belly dumped him in favour of Conrad every time he sees Belly and his brother together. He walks on eggshells around Belly because he is wary of his sentiments and believes that there is still something between them. He can’t help but wonder whether Belly and Conrad’s split is a sign that Belly is meant to be with him in the end.
Similar difficult circumstances arise between Steven and Taylor. They shared a kiss in the previous season, but Steven didn’t treat Taylor well afterward. He made Shayla his choice at the time, but it appears that he has sincere feelings for her that are growing the more time they spend together. Taylor compares Steven to her version of Conrad. Although she is aware that there is a connection between them, she does not want Steven’s current interest in her to cause her to lose her heart. Conrad and Jeremiah enter the room just as they are about to share a kiss.
The show provides us glimpses of a fresh romance developing in the distance to give us a breather from all these complicated relationships and emotions. On the day Skye went out with her cousins to the boardwalk, Cam and Skye had their first encounter. They’ve only been together for a day, yet already they appear more at ease with one another than they do with the other members of the group. Because they are the only ones who are unaware of all the turmoil involving Belly, they too feel outcasts. Cam is still an outsider when it comes to Belly and the Fisher boys despite his limited knowledge of them.
Conrad learns that a local child went to a judge to obtain early access to his trust fund, which is another intriguing development. Conrad is inspired by this to follow suit and use the trust fund funds to maintain the home. He has a strategy by morning that he hopes will work, but when he and the others get back to the beach home, Julia informs them that she has already closed a transaction and the place is sold. Although no paperwork has been signed, Julia has made up her mind that she will go back to Boston to complete the process. Conrad, Jeremiah, and Belly might have to bid the house farewell after all.
