The Upshaws’ humorous premise has been able to make the audience laugh. Since its 2021 premiere, the Netflix series has drawn a sizable audience. The programme centres on the daily shenanigans of an African American working-class family.
The sitcom was quickly renewed for a second season following a successful first season of ten episodes. The second season was divided into two parts, each of which debuted in 2022 and 2023. Fans are now speculating about whether The Upshaws will return for part 4, which corresponds to season 3. Find out by reading on.
The Upshaws Part 4 Renewal Status
Given that Netflix has renewed the show, part 4 (or season 3) will undoubtedly be released. Four months prior to the release of season 2’s second half, in October 2022, the streaming service announced the renewal.
The amount of episodes for season 3 has not yet been revealed. Ten episodes made up the first season; 16 episodes, broken into two halves of eight, made up the second season. It is unknown if the third season will likewise adopt this strategy and be released in installments or if all the episodes will be made available at once.
The Upshaws Part 4 Potential Release Date
The release date for the upcoming season of Netflix has not yet been disclosed, although it is known that filming has already started. The Upshaws season 3 production has officially started, according to a photo uploaded on Instagram on February 2 by actor and executive producer Mike Epps.
The first episode’s title, “Thera Please,” was disclosed in the image’s script title. Since filming has begun, we may anticipate that The Upshaws season 3 will premiere towards the end of 2023 or the start of 2024. The early 2024 release date seems more likely, though, given that Netflix released the first three parts in separate years.
The main cast members will almost certainly return in the future season. Mike Epps plays Bernard “Bennie” Upshaw Sr., Regina Upshaw, Wanda Sykes, Lucretia Turner, Diamond Lyons, Kelvin Upshaw, Aaliyah Upshaw, Duck, Page Kennedy, and Jermelle Simon, Bernard Upshaw Jr.
The remaining cast members are Journey Christine as Maya Upshaw, Mike Estime as Tony, Dayna Dooley as Sheila, Daria Johns as Savannah, Jessica Morris as Amy, Dewayne Perkins as Hector, and Leonard Earl Howze as Davis. Gabrielle Dennis plays Tasha Lewis in the remaining episodes.
Skyes is also credited with co-creating the show. She stated in an interview that the lack of representation of this working class family on television was what motivated her to start the show. Either we have all arrived or not. We either have enough of money or we are struggling, you know.
But we wanted to create a show that reflected the majority of Americans’ lives, not simply those of black people. It’s like families, she added, just trying their best to get along with one another and have happy lives.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Upshaws are currently available on Netflix. Keep checking back for new information.
