Sony’s incredible library of console-exclusive video games has long been one of the most persuasive arguments for choosing PlayStation over Xbox. Franchises like “God of War,” “Infamous,” “The Last of Us,” and “Spider-Man” have all contributed to the development of the PlayStation line of gaming platforms. However, they are not the only franchises that have successfully converted players to the Sony camp. Since the debut of the first “Uncharted” game back in 2007, Naughty Dog’s “Uncharted” games have only been available on consoles. For the PS3, three mainline games were created, while for the PS4, just one mainline game and a side game were created. Fans are nevertheless keen to see whether the PS5 will usher in the next chapter of the adventure.
For a long time, it was uncertain whether the series would get more episodes. Nathan Drake’s tale appeared to come to an end in “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” and while Chloe Frazer assumed the primary role in “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy,” it wasn’t clear if it was simply for a single side game or if she would take over as the series’ new permanent face. The Next Uncharted game’s protagonist and mainline status are currently unclear, but according to a Bloomberg article, fans will undoubtedly learn these things eventually, even if it takes some time.
Untitled Uncharted game may be on the way
The main topic of Jason Schreier’s Bloomberg article was how S ony’s emphasis on creating blockbuster-caliber exclusives was causing discord across the company’s numerous development teams. The report stated that “Instead, one team at the studio was assigned to help Naughty Dog with a multiplayer game while a second group was assigned to work on a new Uncharted game with supervision from Naughty Dog” when Sony Bend, an Oregon-based developer, failed to obtain approval for a “Day’s Gone” sequel. The project didn’t seem to progress, and the report didn’t go into much detail regarding the type of “Uncharted” game the team was working on or what level of production it was in. Evidently, a number of employees quit, and Bend was worried about losing its independence by being incorporated by Naughty Dog. The crew was subsequently dropped from the project so that Sony could start developing a game that would be a part of a completely new franchise.
