Finally!! Warrior Season 3 Has Begun Production At HBO Max

Warrior Season 3 started filming on July 18, so be ready for another episode of high-flying, expertly choreographed buttkicking. That is correct! After waiting for information for an inordinate amount of time, we now know that not only is the story’s continuation coming, but that filming will start this summer. Shannon Lee, the daughter of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, is the ideal person to impart the information. Using her deceased father’s Twitter account, Lee announced the news by first remembering the date of his passing, July 20. Every year, Lee’s family and supporters grieve his passing while also honouring his life, but this year, according to Lee, will be different because they want to memorialise him “in a really, really special way.” She continued by saying that “the entire Warrior cast and crew are getting together… to start filming Season 3!!!” on July 18. Fans of the expected return of the programme are sure to join Lee’s joy as she makes the announcement.

When Warrior debuted on Cinemax in 2019, it particularly appealed to aficionados of Bruce Lee’s martial arts films. The karate-focused criminal thriller is based on a Lee-conceived plot and follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a master of the martial arts, as he travels China in search of his sister, who has vanished. The Tong Wars, a period of intense violence between competing Chinese Tong factions dwelling in several Chinatowns dispersed around different American cities, are depicted in the series as occurring in San Francisco in the late 1870s. As Ah Sahm finally arrives in America, his abilities are quickly noticed and put to the test when he finds himself being sold to one of Chinatown’s deadliest and most feared tongs.

Warrior’s second season premiered on Cinemax in late 2020, while HBO Max announced in April 2021 that it had ordered a third season of the show.

Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Olivia Cheng, Joanna Vanderham, Hoon Lee, Joe Taslim, Dean S. Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Rich Ting, and Dustin Nguyen also appear in the series along with Koji. Along with renowned director Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise, Space Jam: A New Legacy), Danielle Woodrow, Andrew Schneider, and Richard Sharkey, Lee, who is committed to upholding her father’s legacy, serves the project as executive producer. Jonathan Tropper (Banshee), the showrunner and creator of Warrior, also holds the position of executive producer.

Now that it’s safely situated on its new home network with a production kick off in sight, we can’t wait to hear what other updates lay on the horizon for the third season of Warrior. As always, stay tuned to Collider for more information, and check out Lee’s Twitter announcement below.
