Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, is resigning from her position. In order to “start a new chapter focused on my family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about,” the executive, who has served as the chief executive of the largest video-sharing platform in the world for nine years, has revealed that she will be departing the company.
Neal Mohan, the company’s chief product officer at the moment, will take her place. Wojcicki joined Google in 1999, thus she has a lengthy history with YouTube’s parent firm, Alphabet.

On February 17, the 54-year-old corporate leader informed YouTube staff of her choice in a letter. Wojcicki, who became the CEO of YouTube in 2014, will now continue to engage with the teams of the business to coach employees. The statement from Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin acknowledged the executive for her contributions to the business.
Neal Mohan will be the New Head of YouTube
For eight years, Mohan has been Wojcicki’s number two. “Susan has built an excellent team and has in Neal a successor who is ready to hit the ground running and lead YouTube through its next decade of success,” Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in a statement announcing Neal’s appointment as the next CEO of YouTube.
In her email to Mohan, Wojcicki stated, “I’ve worked with Neal for almost 15 years of my career, first when he joined Google with the DoubleClick purchase in 2007 and then when his position grew to become SVP of Display and Video Ads. In 2015, he was appointed Chief Product Officer of YouTube.
He has a great understanding of our company, our workers, our creative and user communities, and our product. Neal will do a great job of leading YouTube. The most exciting potential for YouTube are ahead thanks to everything we’re doing with Shorts, streaming, and subscriptions, as well as the promises of AI, and Neal is the best guy to lead us, she continued.
