What 23 Jump Street Would Look Like Now ? Jonah Hill And Channing Tatum Take A Dig

  • DCS

For the film 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum formed one of the most unlikely and hilarious comedy teams we’ve ever seen. Although both actors have accomplished a lot in the past ten years, this doesn’t mean they have entirely given up on the concept of a threequel; on the other hand, it sounds like if 23 Jump Street does materialise, it will look very different from its predecessors.

21 Jump Street is still regarded as one of Channing Tatum’s and, for that matter, Jonah Hill’s best films. They seem to maintain a particular place in their hearts for the movie because it not only was a success but also served as the catalyst for their friendship. The two stars discussed the prospect of working together once more for a third film when they spoke for VMAN 48’s cover feature on Tatum. For his part, Jonah Hill questions if a third film would succeed:

They don’t actually want another Jump Street, despite thinking they want. It would just be Channing and I discussing our respective medications, my shoulder, and his hip.

The Superbad star could be exaggerating a little bit when he says that he and Channing Tatum haven’t gone undercover in a while. To be fair, when 21 Jump Street was out, it was a little bit of a different world for both stars. Jonah Hill has established himself as a genuinely multidimensional actor and burgeoning director. He is currently a two-time Oscar contender. And while Channing Tatum was already a well-known actor at the start of 2012, by the end of the year, his star was rising quickly. A few months after the buddy cop movie came out, Magic Mike debuted in theatres and quickly became an unexpected mega hit.

It would be an understatement to say that they have both been busy since then. The Dog co-director said to his co-star during their talk that he would go to one of his upcoming movies for some ideas if he were going to do a threequel:

The Lost City’s Brad Pitt is amusing. He’s comic gold if you pair him with the appropriate character, I’m telling you, so if we ever make Jump Street 3, we have to. I’ll let you know who I think is currently my favourite actor. Robert Radcliffe

It may seem unlikely that Brad Pitt will agree to star in the planned film, but perhaps he will make a cameo appearance à la Lost City. But given that there were once ideas for a Men in Black crossover, it can’t be any more far-fetched than the first ambitions for extending the series.

Whatever way you look at it, it sounds like Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill aren’t overly committed to the concept of the band reforming, but they haven’t entirely dismissed it either. And well, it goes without saying that you can never say never if we’re now getting the “Super Bowl” of Magic Mike flicks despite Channing Tatum’s claim that there wouldn’t be any more. In the interim, if you have a Netflix subscription, you can view 21 Jump Street.
