The star of Money Heist, Alba Flores, has announced her upcoming starring role. She will once again work with one of the show’s directors.
According to Deadline, the actress, who is most known for portraying gata Jiménez (also known as Nairobi) in the Netflix series, will star in and executive produce the upcoming sci-fi thriller Ulterior.
A teenage singer and influencer named Ada, who will be portrayed by the celebrity, awakens in a world where people can digitally connect with a recreation of their own life.
Ada must play along in order to get back to her normal life and solve the mystery of her new life with an enigmatic stranger.
The film is a collaboration between Vida Perfecta director Manuel Burque and Money Heist director Alex Rodrigo, and it is described as a “chilling and complex science fiction story” by producers Matt Brodlie and Jonathan Kier.
They continued, “Manuel Burque and Alex Rodrigo have created a visionary and timely thriller, and we’re excited to bring their distinctive and authentic voices forward.
After three seasons, Money Heist was cancelled last year. Lvaro Morte discussed the show’s cancellation with Digital Spy and other media last year.
“The programme is coming to an end when it had to end in every sense of the word. The moment is right. We’ve taken the best parts of the characters and we can’t squeeze them any more, so I think stopping here is a really wise move, he said.
“I also believe that it’s a means of giving the supporters what they actually merit. We could have squeezed it a little tighter, but doing so would have increased the likelihood of chaos. So, leaving at the top is a gift we provide to our supporters.
Ulterior is yet to confirm a release date.
