Promised sequels in Hollywood frequently never materialise. A beloved film’s sequel has a tiny window of opportunity to receive the coveted green light. Rosa Salazar, who plays Alita in Robert Rodriguez’s sci-fi/manga adaption Alita: Battle Angel, claims that despite appearances to the contrary, a sequel is still in the works. The main characters are still working tirelessly to bring that story to life.
Rosa Salazar visited CinemaBlend’s media area at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, over the weekend to discuss the second season of the well-liked Amazon Prime Video programme Undone. We questioned her about any Alita 2 developments and whether she had spoken to James Cameron or Robert Rodriguez about it during our conversation. It turns out that they discuss more than just Alita 2. Salazar stated:
I constantly bug them. Like, it might soon give rise to a legal concern. I frequently email James Cameron. And he frequently states, “I’m so low.” Consequently, it is absurd to hear someone like James Cameron say, “I’m so depressed!” I visited Robert (Rodriguezhouse )’s while we were at South by Southwest, had tea there, and only talked about Alita. We all three of us adore it so much. Never, ever is it beyond our field of vision. Every action we take is accompanied with the thought, “How do we get back there?” Because we are aware of how much, just like (Undone), her narrative means to women, young girls, boys, and everyone else, we are working really hard to get her back out there. She, in my opinion, stands for something that is greater than race, gender, and all of that. So, man, we’re working on it!
