Jamila Marie Ponton, the wife of Alvin Bragg, has been married for a considerable amount of time.
Although having been together for a long time, they have decided to keep their marriage private and out of the spotlight. Jamila has purposefully shied away from the spotlight and the media.
Because former US President Donald Trump highlighted him in a post on the social media website Truth Social, Alvin Bragg’s name has recently been in the news.
Trump alleged that a payment made to p*rn star Stormy Daniels was the subject of an ongoing inquiry with Bragg’s office. This claim hasn’t been verified, though.
Alvin Bragg and his wife, Jamalia, first became acquainted while enrolled in Harvard University’s programmes for their respective master’s degrees in education and law, respectively.
Jamila worked as a consultant for the Emma Bowen Foundation for three years, up until 2018, according to her LinkedIn profile.
In 2003, the couple exchanged vows at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Heinz Memorial Chapel. Together, they are parents to three kids.
They made the decision to be married after their studies were through. Jamila was a 29-year-old programme director for the New York-based nonprofit organisation Girls Inc. at the time of their nuptials.
On the other side, Alvin Bragg was a Manhattan assistant solicitor general for New York State.
Jamila has a distinguished professional background, having served as the Electric Company of Sesame Workshop’s Education Manager.
She also supports the CEO of Atlantic Philanthropies as a special assistant. She has worked as a project manager for Girls, Inc. for more than six years.
About Alvin Bragg
Alvin Bragg, who was born in New York State, is currently the district solicitor for New York County.
He was elected to this office in 2021, making him the first African American and person of colour to do so.
Bragg received his education at Trinity School before enrolling in Harvard College. Before receiving his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, he earned an honours Bachelor of Arts in Government in 1995.
He worked as an editor for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review while he was attending law school. For the job of New York County District Attorney, which Cyrus Vance Jr. was leaving vacant, Bragg started his campaign in June 2019.
On November 2, 2021, he won the job by defeating Republican Thomas Kenniff in the general election. On January 1, 2022, Bragg took over as the position’s first African American occupant.
On January 4, 2022, just three days into his term, Bragg made the announcement that his office would no longer pursue cases involving low-level violations, such as fare evasion, resisting arrest, prostitution, and misdemeanour cannabis possession, unless a felony charge was also filed.
Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, two of the primary prosecutors in the New York County District Attorney’s probe of former President Donald Trump and his businesses, resigned in February 2022 after Bragg voiced hesitancy about bringing a case against Trump.
The district attorney’s office, however, reportedly reopened its criminal investigation into Trump’s alleged “hush-money payment to a p*rn celebrity” in November 2022, according to The New York Times.
