With a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from Michigan State University, Anna Khalikova is an outstanding violinist.
She has received various honours, including first place at the Golden Classical Music Awards and the Glazunov competition in Paris.
Young Anna was dedicated to honing her musical abilities, and after graduating from the Uspenskiy Special School of Music in Uzbekistan, she made the decision to immigrate to the United States.
in the age of 18, she relocated to the United States and enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music.
She was practising four to seven hours a day, learning English, and taking care of herself during this time.
She continued her education at Michigan State University while still working as a music teacher at the Okemos Music Academy.
She had to walk from the university to the music academy for an hour, often in temperatures minus thirty, because she didn’t have a car.
It was no surprise that Anna’s doctoral defence focused on the music of African-American composer Florence Prince because she loved discovering and sharing new musical ideas.
She pursued excellence throughout her career, taking advantage of every chance to sharpen her abilities.
Her work as a teaching assistant to the renowned violinist Dmitri Berlinsky at Michigan State University stands out among her many accomplishments.
She has played in a travelling orchestra for performances by “The Who” and Andrea Bocelli. She continued to compete in international contests and was named First Prize Winner at the Paris Glazunov Competition and the Golden Classical Music Awards.
Since then, she has performed around the United States, China, France, and Uzbekistan. She has given performances in many American locations, but one of her most illustrious appearances was in New York City at The Chamber Music in Carnegie Hall.
In addition, Anna worked as the concertmaster of the Uzbek Youth Symphony Orchestra and taught at the Albion College of Music in Michigan.
She is still performing and honing her talent now all around the world. Although Anna’s journey was difficult, she learned the value of having confidence in oneself.
In closing, she offers the following advice to others: “Believe in yourself, listen to your inner voice, and don’t let anyone or anything stop you or tell you that your dreams are too big.”
Anna wants to present the public with fresh and original concepts in the future. She says, “I am currently working on a lecture recital series with my piano duo partner, YinYu Li. Additionally, I am working on a project with painter Alisa Boam in which we combine the arts of music and painting.
Overall, as a virtuoso violinist, Anna Khalikova has had a remarkable musical journey from practising four to seven hours a day while attending college and supporting herself to becoming a successful and award-winning violinist who has given performances all over the world.
