Although the Hulu platform may not be the largest streaming service available, it does provide a selection of shows that are well worth viewing. Because of a relationship between the two companies, Hulu customers may now watch a variety of series that FX produces.
Additionally, Hulu offers its own original programming that has been praised highly by critics. The quality of the shows available on the site is attested by Rotten Tomatoes rankings, and it is recommended that you watch the highly rated ones. It’s interesting to note that each one has a different genre, therefore there is a wide range of content available.
Atlanta (2016-) – 97%
With Donald Glover at the helm, Atlanta’s concept of a man managing his rapper cousin’s rising career makes for some bizarre moments. The programme also served as a launching pad for celebrities like LaKeeith Stanfield and Bryan Tyree Henry.
Although it’s billed as a comedy, the drama actually plays a bigger role as the main character tries to win back the favour of his child and his ex-girlfriend. The show’s extremely sluggish pacing allows it to give its cast’s characters time to develop their characters.
Better Things (2016-22) – 97%
This series, one of the ones ending in 2022, is about a working actress who is a divorced mother of three daughters. The primary tension in this story is how the lead character balances her tumultuous personal life with her demanding profession.
Every daughter has unique quirks and attitudes, which calls for a specific parenting style for each of them, adding some variety to the general idea. The ideal opportunity to see why critics adore the series is right now by viewing the entire run since it is about to end.
Harlots (2017-) – 97%
As implied by the series’ name, the narrative follows several women who are being cared for by their “mother” in a brothel. It examines how women’s opportunities at the period were limited and how the protagonists try to make it by serving affluent customers in the 1760s.
The show is primarily about the relationship between the individuals, despite the idea sounding dark and provocative. It is a play about how some people were treated at the period and how even the wealthy and powerful were not much better than those they despised.
Justified (2010-15) – 97%
Rayland Givens, a US Marshall played by Timothy Olyphant, gets into trouble with the law by enforcing his own unique brand of justice. Given’s adventures in Harlan County and how his old-west mindset interacts with contemporary ideals are the main themes of the series.
Although the show’s plot is rather straightforward, Olyphant’s portrayal of the main character is its strongest feature. As a self-contained character who feels out of place in the world, Rayland Givens encourages viewers to root for him. He is a flawed, realistic, but ultimately good-hearted protagonist.
Mrs. America (2020) – 96%
This television series, which dramatises the actual campaign to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, stars a sizable ensemble cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Uzo Aduba, Rose Byrne, and Sarah Paulson, among others. The protagonist of the story, played by Blanchett, is opposed to the movement.
The series’ breakout stars are Blanchett and Aduba, and assessments of their performances have received great praise. Although the show has a certain audience in mind, it’s still worth watching to see how many A-list celebrities work together to make the heavy-handed topics amusing.
National Treasure (2016) – 97%
Paul Finchley, a popular comedian in the 1980s and 1990s who has since fallen from favour, is a star comic in Robbie Coltrane’s National Treasure. The programme examines the incidents that took place and the effects of the claims against the character, Finchley, who is suspected of abusing several young women.
The show is worth watching to learn how predators can prey on innocent victims and why it’s so crucial to bring them down in a time when the subject matter is incredibly pertinent. The series is praised for showing how these cases affect the people around the accused.
Only Murders In The Building (2021-) – 100%
In this mystery-comedy series, which stars A-list actors Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez, three neighbours deny that someone in their building has committed suicide. The trio starts a podcast outlining their findings, but in the process, they get themselves into trouble.
Thanks in large part to the comedy team of Short and Martin, who are nicely contrasted by Gomez’s presence, the series has received appreciation for the way it handles what should be a sombre issue in a funny manner. Every episode of this show finishes with a big hook that encourages fans to binge watch the entire season.
PEN15 (2019-21) – 97%
This show’s premise is very strange because it casts women in their thirties as 13-year-old girls, notwithstanding their true age. It depicts the artists as outsiders in a school where they are surrounded by actual 13-year-olds, reflecting their actual experiences as teenagers.
Since the show’s goal is to deliver embarrassing comedy that viewers can yet relate to, the plot is meant to be bizarre. The fact that the programme does such a good job of getting viewers to suspend their disbelief has helped it become a huge hit with reviewers and get nominations for Primetime Emmys each time it has qualified.
Reservation Dogs (2021-) – 98%
This Taiki Waititi-produced teen comedy drama follows four people who turn to vigilantism and harbour aspirations of relocating to California. The production team is mostly made up of Indigenous people, making it the first show with an entirely Indigenous main cast.
The kids’ behaviour in the show makes a hilarious dig at Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, but the main focus is on their attempts to defy social convention and pursue greater aspirations. It has received critical acclaim for blending dramatic and comic elements to illustrate teenage difficulties.
What We Do In The Shadows (2019-) – 97%
What We Do in the Shadows, which is based on Taika Waititi’s comedy film of the same name, has a few elements related to vampire mythology, but its main draw is its humour. It attempts to justify the challenges faced by vampires in contemporary New York by dressing it up as a mockumentary.
It’s easy to chuckle at how ludicrous the premise is and the awkward humour that follows when comedians play the key roles. While other guest stars, like as Dave Bautista, have shown up to join the humour, Waititi himself has made an appearance as his character from the film.
