A new real estate record has been set by Jay-Z and Beyoncé! The wealthy couple, who already own a number of opulent homes, recently paid a stunning $200 million for a brand-new mansion in Malibu, making it the most expensive real estate transaction in California history.
The 30,000 square foot seaside property is a Tadao Ando-designed home made entirely of concrete. A mansion that sold for $177 million in 2021 previously held the title for the most expensive piece of real estate in California.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z Buy $200 Million Mansion in Malibu
The mansion has a view of the Pacific Ocean and is located in Paradise Cove, often known as Billionaires’ Row. The eight-acre bluff where Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s dream home is situated. Tadao Ando, who also worked on Kanye West’s $57.3 million home, which he acquired during his divorce from Kim Kardashian, designed the estate.
The Billionaires’ Row residence was originally owned by art collector William Bell and took 15 years to build. Beyoncé and Jay-Z got a wonderful deal on the house even though it is still the most costly ever in California. The house was originally advertised for $295 million. Celebrity realtor Kurt Rappaport handled the sale, taking care of both the buyers and the sellers.
The transaction is also the second-most expensive real estate purchase in the nation, only behind a $238 million NYC flat. The singers could have easily spent $200 million on their dream home because Beyoncé and Jay-Z have a combined net worth of almost $2.5 billion.
The Couple Previously Bought a Bel Air Mansion for $88 Million
The two artists, who wed in 2008 and have three kids together, have made significant real estate investments over the years. They purchased a mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles, for $88 million in 2017. 8 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 4 swimming pools, a recording studio, an indoor basketball court, and a tennis court were all included in the 1.86 acre home.
The couple spent $26 million on a house in the Hamptons the same year. The 12,000 square foot residence is located on the prestigious Georgica Pond in East Hampton. Seven bedrooms, hand-carved heated marble tubs, stone fireplaces, and an attached 1,800-square-foot guest cottage are just a few of the property’s features.
Social Media Reacts to the Deal
Social media users’ reactions to the news of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s $200 million mansion acquisition have been conflicted. Many people are making fun of the massive sum of money, but others are encouraging the couple to buy the house of their choosing.
An individual wrote, “Who the f tf buys a house that costs this much bro that’s so useless you could buy SO much land to save the earth but you rather spend it on an f-king house.” One more individual commented, “No one in a normal society should have so much wealth.”
During this time, a supporter tweeted: “Some of y’all are unhappy that they’re spending THEIR money the way that THEY want to??? Stop worrying about celebrities’ wealth and find your own employment. You guys are obviously insanely unemployed.
