On the night of October 13, 32-year-old mother of two Elizabeth Sullivan disappeared from the home she shared with her sailor husband, Matthew Sullivan, at Liberty Station. Early in 2021, when Matthew Sullivan was given a prison sentence of 16 years to life, Calandra Duckett went back to California to talk to the court and give an impact statement. “This sentence won’t change the fact that she’s dead, but it might help fill the hole left by Matthew Sullivan’s evil act,” she said through her tears. “Matt has caused me, Elizabeth’s family, and friends a great deal of pain. There are no words for the pain that is still deep in my heart.”
