The American mystery-comedy-drama television series Monk was created by Andy Breckman. Along with Jason Gray-Stanford, Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Stanley Kamel, Bitty Schram, Emmy Clarke, and Hector Elizondo in the cast, Tony Shalhoub played Adrian Monk. Monk, a television drama that aired from 2002 to 2009, is mostly a police procedural with some comic and dramatic undertones that focus on the characters’ private lives.
A Monk reunion movie that will pick up after the series’ conclusion, Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, has reportedly been ordered by Peacock for production in 2023. While Breckman will pen the script, many of the original cast members will reprise their parts. What these eminent performers were doing between the conclusion of the series and their choice to decide to reprise their roles in the Monk movie remains to be seen, though.
Bitty Schram
Bitty Schram vanished from view after her three-season run on Monk ended. Prior to the show, she gave significant performances in Marvin’s Room, One Fine Day, and A League of Their Own. Schram has only one further acting credit after the series: a small part in the 2016 movie Moments of Clarity. She did, however, reprise her role in Monk once in 2009. She won’t be playing Monk again in the next reunion movie.
Emmy Clarke
After her stint on Monk, actress Emmy Clarke continued to work and starred in a number of films, including The Line, a television movie, Apartment Troubles, Capture the Flag, and The Strange Adventures of Gravemind the Warlock. After Monk’s lecture, Clarke graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and media studies and is currently employed at TikTok as a team lead of client solutions. Currently, there are no plans for her to take over her previous role in the Monk reunion film.
Hector Elizondo
Hector Elizondo voiced characters in numerous films and television shows after concluding his work on Monk, including Thundercats, The Legend of Korra, Dora the Explorer, and The Lego Batman Movie. He also made other appearances in films and TV shows, such as Valentine’s Day, Grey’s Anatomy, Guess Who Died, Last Man Standing, and B Positive.
Elizondo provided the voice of Romar Adell in 2023 in an episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch. In addition to acting in the Max & Me animated historical production, the actor will return as the psychiatrist for Monk in the aforementioned Monk reunion film.
Jason Gray-Stanford
Since his stint on Monk, Jason Gray-Stanford has made several guest appearances on television shows such DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, The X-Files, iZombie, and The Boys. He received a heart transplant in 2020 after receiving a diagnosis of heart failure. He then asserted that he would have only had a few weeks to live without the operation in an editorial for Today (via Yahoo).
In 2022, he made two on-screen appearances: in Cruel Instruction and an FBI: Most Wanted episode. He will reprise his role as Monk in the upcoming reunion movie in addition to playing Maron in Disney’s upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians television series.
Stanley Kamel
Stanley Kamel had a heart attack halfway through Monk’s run, which ultimately led to his demise at the age of 65. The actor was best known for his recurring roles on Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place, and Beverly Hills, 90210.
Ted Levine
Lt. Hank Wade in the police drama The Bridge, retired police chief Thomas F. Bynes in the historical drama The Alienist, cult leader Obie Garbeau II in the comedy On Becoming a God in Central Florida, and ranch owner Horst Klensasser in the crime drama Big Sky are some of Ted Levine’s most notable recent television roles. Additionally, in 2023, he had guest appearances on an episode of Tiny Beautiful Things and the film Starbright. In the next Monk reunion movie, he will reprise his previous role.
Tony Shalhoub
The Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical that he received for his performance in the Broadway production of The Band’s Visit and his fourth Emmy Award for his supporting performance as Professor Abe Weissman in the Prime Video comedy The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel are just a few of Tony Shalhoub’s more notable accomplishments since the end of Monk. Other recent work for Shalhoub include roles in the films Linoleum and Flaming Hot, as well as a significant part as U.S. Senator Red Wheatus in the political comedy TV series BrainDead.
Additionally, he lent his voice to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle films, the Cars series, and the animated picture Rumble. Shalhoub will play Carlos Ghosn, the former CEO of Nissan and Renault who avoided capture by concealing himself in a music container, in the upcoming film Fall of the God of Cars in addition to reprising his role as Adrian Monk in the aforementioned Monk reunion film.
Traylor Howard
Since the end of Monk, Traylor Howard has had a few appearances, such as those in the TV movie Nolan Knows Best and a cameo in the programme Peacock Presents: The At-Home Variety Show Featuring Seth MacFarlane. Additionally, she contributed voice acting to the animated shorts Simon Says Let’s Stop Climate Change! (2010) and Simon Says Save the Climate! (2016). In a 2014 Atlanta Journal-Constitution article, Howard and her architect husband Jarel Portman discussed their hectic parenting schedules for their son Julien. She will return to her role from Monk in the upcoming reunion film.
