The former handyman who fatally stabbed his housewife lover Orsolya Gaal inside her Queens home on Wednesday was given a 25-year prison term.
When David Bonola, 44, pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the savage April 16 murder of the married Forest Hills mother, he accepted the harsh penalty earlier this month.
Assistant District Attorney John Kosinski told Queens Judge Michael Aloise in court on Wednesday, “The defendant sits before you today having taken responsibility for this brutal and senseless act of killing the life of Orsolya Gaal.”
Kosinski added that the incident “devastated their family, stunned the neighbourhood, and left two sons to move forward in life without their mother.”
Neither Bonola’s family nor Gaal’s husband and their kids were present in the courtroom for the sentencing.
On the night of the murder, the former handyman pursued Gaal, 51, and followed her home from a neighbourhood club. He confronted her in the basement of her Queens house and stabbed her more than 50 times in a frenzy.
The murder of Queens mother Orsolya Gaal resulted in a 25-year prison term for handyman David Bonola.
He then left a trail of blood after stuffing her body into a hockey bag belonged to one of her sons and wheeling it to a hiking route close to Union Turnpike.
Police used the murderer’s bloodied boots to help find him.
“In that aspect, this is a just conclusion,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz told The Post outside the courthouse. “He’s getting the maximum sentence for the manslaughter.”
Katz remarked, “It was an excellent case against him. He pleaded guilty to the top count of manslaughter and received a sentence based on the top count because “we had the evidence that supported the determination that this was murder.”
Bonola, a Mexican national who is unlawfully present in the country, told police that he thought Gaal gave him HIV throughout the course of their two-year relationship.
At his sentencing on November 16, 2022, Bonola was present in court.

The Post further reported that before the heinous act, Bonola, a married father of two, had a penchant of leaving eerie love notes for the baristas at a nearby Starbucks.
Oliwia Pikulinski, a former employee of the chain coffee shop location, described him as “weird and he stalked people.” “People knew. Everyone in the Starbucks on Austin Street was aware of his peculiar personality.
