Dear Edward Season 1 Finale Recap and Ending, Explained

  • DCS

The drama series “Dear Edward” on Apple TV+ is based on Ann Napolitano’s 2020 book of the same name. It was made by “Parenthood” creator Jason Katims. The story is about a group of people who lost people they cared about in a terrible plane crash. The show’s name comes from the letters that Edward, a 12-year-old boy played by Colin O’Brien and the only survivor of a plane crash, gets from all over the world.

In the 10th episode of the first season, called “Shelter,” Edward goes missing after reading all of the letters written to him. This makes Lacey (Taylor Schilling), who is looking for him, very worried. In another part of the show, Steve (Ivan Shaw) and Amanda (Brittany S. Hall), who have a complicated relationship, reach a point where they have to make a choice. Dee Dee (Connie Britton) throws a party to mark the last meeting of the grief group, and Sam (Dario Ladani Sanchez) decides what to do with his life. Here are some things you might want to know about the end of season 1 of “Dear Edward.” SPOILERS AHEAD.

Dear Edward Episode 10 Recap

The season finale starts with John (Carter Hudson) coming back from a night of patrolling to find Edward gone and the letters he had carefully hidden all over the place. So it’s not surprising that he freaks out and calls Lacey, who comes running. After she yells at him for what she thinks is his lack of care, they both go looking for the boy. First, Lacey talks to Shay (Eva Ariel Binder), who is upset that Edward is missing and thinks she is to blame because she told Edward he couldn’t sleep in her room anymore. Lacey tells her right away that after the crash, she is the best thing that has happened to Edward.

When Shay told Lacey about Mahira (Jenna Qureshi), she went to the girl’s uncle’s shop and found out that she, too, hasn’t seen Edward. But when she finds out that Mahira was Jordan’s girlfriend, Lacey knows exactly what to say, and the two of them grieve together. Lacey finds Edward at his old house in the end. The people who live there now tell her that he is fine. When they got home, Edward was already playing the piano, and their daughter joined him soon after. After an emotional reunion with his aunt, Edward goes to the falafel stand and tells the owner about what happened to his family. Then, Lacey takes him to a party that Dee Dee is throwing to celebrate the end of their session. There, Edward meets the rest of the group.

Steve says he’s willing to break off his engagement for Amanda, but Amanda, who is the more sensible of the two, points out that Trent will always be a factor between them and ends their affair. Steve gets married at the end of the season, but he looks clearly unhappy, while Amanda gives a public performance somewhere else in the city and looks happy. Sam chooses his wife and daughter over his sexual curiosity when he is given a choice. By the time he tells Sienna this, she has already made up her mind to leave.

In the last episode, Dee Dee told Zoe (Audrey Corsa) the truth about Charles, and the two of them were able to come to an agreement, putting an end to their short but unavoidable fight. She also talked Milo into letting her throw a party. But when she gets to the church to decorate, she finds no one else there. So, she talks a priest into helping her. Zoe, Milo, and the rest of the group show up in the end. The party goes well soon enough. Steve brings in a dumpling that he and Amanda made together, but Amanda doesn’t show up.

Dear Edward Episode 10 Ending: Does Edward have another Uncle?

John and Lacey don’t necessarily get back together at the end of the season, but John tells her that he listens to her even when she thinks he doesn’t. Even though Linda just had a baby early, she still lives with Lacey and Edward. The latter makes up with Shay by giving her some of the little things he’s collected over the years that remind him of his family.

Edward decides to write back to all the letters he’s gotten. One day, when he and Shay are looking through them, Shay finds one that surprises them both. It looks like it was written by Edward’s uncle, but Edward doesn’t even know he has an uncle other than John.

If Edward does have a second uncle, it must be from his father’s side, since he would have gotten in touch with Lacey if he were related to Jane. The fact that Edward doesn’t know who this person is says a lot about how close he is to Edward’s father. It’s interesting to note that there’s a good chance John and Lacey will read who the letter is from before putting it in the pile. If that’s true, they didn’t want this person to talk to Edward. But that doesn’t matter any more. With Edward finding the letter, it’s almost certain that he will meet this man in the upcoming season 2.

Does Adriana Win the Election?

Yes, Adriana wins the election, even though she wasn’t the favourite. She ran for the seat in Congress that her grandmother held before she died. After that, she thanks her voters and her staff and then talks about Kojo (Idris DeBrand) without mentioning his name. In the last episode, Kojo and Becks (Khloe Bruno) went back to Ghana. Kojo and Adriana promise to see each other again, whether it’s in Ghana or the United States. Kojo even talks about the house he and his family live in.

In the context of the show, Adriana and Kojo’s story doesn’t have to have a happy ending for it to work. They helped each other out when they were in trouble. When that need is no longer there, their lives go in different directions.

Do Dee Dee Move to Los Angeles?

Dee Dee is such a strange character that she is often the only thing that makes the show funny. She has always been confused by her current situation, but she has found a way to keep going. She is also able to make up with her daughter by telling the truth about how her late husband lived in Los Angeles.

After Charles dies, Dee Dee finds out that he left them with a terrible amount of money. She asks Steve to help her figure out what to do, and he tells her that she should sell her house in New York. At first, Dee Dee can’t understand why she would want to sell the house where she has lived for most of her life and raised her daughter Zoe. But at the end of episode 8, she decides to sell it.

In one of the season’s last scenes, it seems like Dee Dee and Zoe have moved to Los Angeles, where Zoe is finishing up her schooling. They found a cheaper place to live and are selling the condo. Dee Dee says they have an offer on the condo when Zoe comes home, presumably from school.
