Hannah Hill, age 18, vanished from her house on May 19, 1999, causing a scary occurrence in Akron, Ohio, a city known for its tranquilly. Even though Hannah’s body was discovered in her own car’s trunk, the inquiry remained difficult until Denny Ross was located thanks to phone records. The terrible murder is detailed in “Dateline: The Night Hannah Hill Disappeared,” which also shows how Denny Ross contributed to the crime. Let’s investigate the specifics and discover Denny’s current whereabouts, shall we?
Who Is Denny Ross?
Hannah Hill resided a few blocks away from Denny Ross, a local of Akron, Ohio. Even so little is known about Denny’s early life, those who knew him say they didn’t see anything unusual. However, the programme made reference of Denny’s reputation as a drug dealer and the fact that he had previously run afoul of the law by providing cocaine and other illegal substances to police informants. Furthermore, it is unknown how Denny and Hannah met, but the 18-year-old was unaware that their friendship would ultimately result in her demise.
On May 19, 1999, at about 10:30 p.m., Hannah left her house after promising her mother that she would return shortly. The 18-year-old left that evening, though, and her boss called the next morning to let her know she was not at work. Hannah’s parents were really concerned because it was unusual for her to skip school without telling anybody. As a result, they alerted police right once, who then started combing the area with help from neighbourhood volunteers. The police were informed about an illegally parked car around the time Hannah vanished, but they paid it little attention.
A week or so after Hannah vanished, they were surprised to discover her body in the trunk when they went back to the car. Even the toughest police officers were shocked by the scene, yet an examination revealed that the man had been battered and strangled to death. Because Brad O’Born, Hannah’s boyfriend, was described on the show as having a history of violence, the initial focus of the inquiry was on him. However, according to Brad, the 18-year-old rushed out of the house the night of her disappearance following an argument, and he never saw her again. The police discovered that Hannah had been in frequent communication with Denny Ross after looking through Hannah’s phone records.
Denny was questioned by the police right away because of his reputation for drug dealing, and he acknowledged to seeing Hannah on the evening of May 19. Denny, on the other hand, said that Hannah was upset with her partner, so he kissed her before she left his flat at about 1:30 in the morning. Denny refused to be believed, so the police obtained a search warrant for his residence before finding a garbage bag containing the victim’s pants. Denny was therefore detained and accused of murder as a result of the evidence connecting him to the crime.
Where Is Denny Ross Now?
Due to a juror’s exigency that affected the verdict, Denny’s first trial ended in a mistrial. Denny, however, resumed his illegal behaviour while awaiting the second trial and wound up raping and assaulting Jennifer Tittle, a 32-year-old lady. Jennifer, incidentally, pretended to be dead during the ordeal, and after she was able to free herself from her kidnapper, she gave the police his name. Denny was therefore given a 25–life term in jail in 2004 after being found guilty of attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, and felony assault.
When Denny finally stood trial for Hannah’s murder in 2012, the prosecution could link him to the crime thanks to DNA evidence. Denny was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison along with an additional 4-year sentence after being found guilty of murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Additionally, Jennifer Tittle provided testimony against Denny. Denny Ross will be eligible for parole in 2048 and is now incarcerated at the NorthEast Ohio Correctional Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.
