Elf has established itself as one of the most recognizable (and hilarious) Christmas films of all time since its 2003 premiere.
The Will Ferrell-led film Buddy the Elf follows Buddy as he journeys from the North Pole to New York City in search of his actual father.
As expected, Buddy has some difficulties adjusting to the city, but he falls in love with Jovie, a worker at Gimbel’s, quite soon.
So, almost 20 years later, where are the members of the Elf cast? Find out by reading on.
Andy Richter (Morris)
Prior to the termination of Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show in 2021, Andy Richter was most known for serving as his sidekick. However, Andy is currently keeping himself busy by providing the voices for numerous television series, such as American Dad!, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, and TrollsTopia.
Artie Lange (Gimbel’s Santa)
The ideal shopping center is Artie Lange. However, Santa Claus from the movie Elf has been extremely candid about his battle with drug addiction. The comedian is currently sober and has a podcast of his own called Artie Lange’s Halfway House, which is currently on break.
“I appreciate my fans’ support of the show. He just posted on Instagram, “I’m so lucky to have you. “I’ve made the decision to temporarily pause the show. It’s not that, I’ve been clean for three years. Simply put, I need more time to devote to my health. When I’m well, I’ll return, and when I do, I’ll be better.
Bob Newhart (Papa Elf)
The man who played Papa Elf was none other than Bob Newhart, who is still performing at the age of 93 and was most recently seen on Young Sheldon.
It was cozy, well-written, and expertly directed by Jon Favreau. People wanted to believe in it, Bob said of the movie to WTOP News. People require the endearing, delightful quality of the holiday spirit and the way it propels the sleigh.
Ed Asner (Santa)
Santa is portrayed by legendary actor Ed Asner, who is well known for his roles in Up, Roots, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. At the unfortunate age of 91, Ed passed away in 2021.
Faizon Love (Gimbel’s Manager)
Since playing the role of Faizon Love in Elf, she has kept herself busy by participating in a number of films and television programs, such as Couples Retreat, Black-ish, and Step Up: High Water.
James Caan (Walter)
James Caan, who portrayed Walter, Buddy’s father, in the Christmas film, displayed his comedic side. He unfortunately died in 2022 at the age of 82.
The relationship between these two actors, according to director Jon Favreau, is what “truly, really makes the movie great” in Will and James’ performances in Elf. They complement one another so beautifully.
Mary Steenburgen (Emily)
Mary Steenburgen previously acted with Will Ferrell in Step Brothers, thus this was not her first time doing so.
She and her husband, Ted Danson, co-star in the NBC comedy Mr. Mayor at the moment.
Peter Dinklage (Miles Finch)
Prior to Game of Thrones, Miles Finch in Elf was Peter Dinklage’s most well-known role.
He is now a Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actor for his outstanding Tyrion Lannister performance in the HBO series.
Will Ferrell (Buddy the Elf)
Without a doubt, Buddy the Elf is one of Will Ferrell’s most well-known characters from both SNL and the big screen.
It’s a shame he won’t return for Elf 2!
Zooey Deschanel (Jovie)
Zooey Deschanel played the unenthusiastic Gimbel’s employee Jovie in Elf, giving fans an opportunity to hear Zooey’s authentic singing voice. She currently dates HGTV personality Jonathan Scott.
Take every day as Christmas, as Buddy the Elf would say.
