During the company’s Q1 results call, Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, stated that the third installment of the Frozen franchise is now under development.
Along with this movie’s announcement, others like Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2 were also released. Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell will probably return to the program for the future season as well, though no specifics have been announced as of yet.
A New Chapter In The Frozen Saga Has Begun
Disney is making a comeback to some brands that have enjoyed great success in the past. At Disney Pictures, a Zootopia sequel, a Toy Story sequel, and a Frozen franchise sequel are all in production. This was confirmed by Bob Iger at the D23 Expo. Unfortunately, there haven’t been many clues that the Toy Story franchise would continue. With the release of Toy Story 4, the story arc for Woody and Buzz Lightyear was thus concluded.
Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, and Kristen Bell have all made inferences about a potential third Frozen film at various times, but none of them have stated when it would be released. The Zootopia franchise was brought to the big screen last year with the debut of a TV series based on the film.
Announcing the existence of Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia sequels from our animation studios, Bob Iger said, “Today, I’m very thrilled to announce that we have sequels to some of our most popular properties. This is a terrific illustration of how we’re leveraging our unrivaled brands and franchises. We’ll have more information about these productions to share soon.
It Has Been Difficult For Disney’s Original Movies To Make A Splash In Recent Years
Disney’s original films have struggled at the box office in recent years, but there has been a significant gap between some of them, like Strange Worlds, and others, like Encanto, which have become instant classics and are set to launch their franchises in the future.
The fact is, though, that a sequel to a well-liked IP is the one thing that always ensures a large audience at the box office since there is nothing better than having a sequel to a major hit.
The Walt Disney Company is in a great financial position, and Bob Iger told shareholders in the Q1 results call that they have some planned plans to make sure the Disney dream will rule the big and small screen for years to come.
Disney announced earlier this week that it would start producing animated movies as part of a significant cost-cutting initiative that would result in the loss of 7000 employees at the corporation.
How Soon Can We Expect The Third Sequel Of Frozen?
Unfortunately for Disney fans, there is currently no estimated release date for Frozen 3. Even if Frozen three were to happen, viewers might have to wait until 2025 to see Anna and Elsa again since it took six years from the release of Frozen to Frozen II.
It makes sense that there would be such an inconsistency since Into the Unknown, the excellent documentary series on the making of Frozen II, goes into great detail about how much detail is involved in producing an animated film.
The postmodern Disney film Wish still hasn’t had a release date announced, but directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have been working on other things. The possibility is that a third installment in the Frozen series won’t be released until after the release of Wish.
All sources indicate that Disney CEO Bob Iger stated he would soon disclose more details on Frozen III and the other new animated movies, noting that Disney is utilizing the well-known properties they already hold to grow their business.
