Is Wellsbury a Real Town?
The performance is held in Wellsbury, Massachusetts, a New England town. The town, however, is a fictional setting developed for the show and does not actually exist. The town of Wellsbury is portrayed using places in Toronto and Cobourg.
Wellsbury was modeled on Newton, the city in where the show’s author, Sarah Lampert, grew up. The city is situated in Massachusetts’ Middlesex County. Lampert was also motivated by her experiences growing up in the city to depict the social and cultural features of the location in the program.
