Harry Potter HBO Max Series : Warner Bros Interested In Making More Fresh Content!

  • DCS

J.K. Rowling declared that she was through with Harry Potter after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and that she wanted to focus on other endeavors. Since then, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been performed on stage, there have been persistent speculations that a movie adaptation would be made at some point, and the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts trilogy will soon be released in theaters. Warner Bros. is eager to expand the Wizarding World with new content for HBO Max as the Harry Potter film series approaches its twentieth anniversary, according to a report in THR this week.

While it first appeared that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’s release anniversary would go by largely without notice, it was revealed last month that the cast of the film would reunite for a special performance to honor the franchise’s milestone birthday. The franchise launched the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint among others. The majority of the franchise’s leading actors will appear in the special, which will run on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, as can be seen in the trailer down below.

Since many platforms are looking for exclusive content, it would seem that Harry Potter is where they want to go for theirs. Warner Bros. does not want to sit on an IP that might be developed much farther than it already has been. Warner Bros. “would love” to turn the Potter story into a TV series in addition to the current emphasis on their DC franchises. Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff discussed the franchise’s future possibilities in a speech at a Bloomberg conference. She uttered:

“We frequently communicate with JK Rowling and her crew and would love to create more unique Harry Potter series. Everything we do must be consistent with Harry’s character, the Wizarding World’s ethics, and the canon.

This is not the first time that a Harry Potter TV project has been mentioned, with HBO Max as the likely airing platform. Although there hasn’t been much activity on that front since the rumors of a return to Hogwarts first surfaced earlier this year, you can anticipate it to pick up again if HBO Max’s reunion special achieves the same kind of viewership that the platform’s Friends reunion did in the summer.

There is still much to come from the Wizarding World, whether or not we see a Harry Potter TV series in the near future. Even if the Potter story seemed to have ended more than ten years ago, you cannot keep a successful franchise down for very long. In order to maintain their fair portion of the market when competing with the likes of Amazon, Apple TV, and Netflix in the coming years, WarnerMedia will undoubtedly want to bring out their heavy guns with new revivals on the small screen for titles like The Lord of the Rings.
