On March 17, 2023, while two young cousins were live streaming themselves on Instagram Live in their St. Louis apartment, something terrible happened.
Both kids died in this accident, because a 12-year-old girl named Paris Harvey shot her 14-year-old cousin Kuaron Harvey and then turned the gun on herself.
The police are still looking into the details of what happened, but family members say it was a terrible accident.
Susan Dyson, the girl’s grandmother, rented the apartment to celebrate the girls’ March birthdays. She told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the kids weren’t fighting, but were playing with the gun when it accidentally went off.
They were very close because they had grown up together.
The fact that Kuaron’s mother and Paris’s father are siblings makes their relationship even closer.
They often made videos and pulled pranks together. Paris was a funny seventh grader who loved getting her hair and nails done and had a beautiful voice. Kuaron was a goofy eighth grader who had been able to do backflips for a long time.
Family members say that before the shooting, the cousins were alone in a bathroom and making a video in the mirror.
Kuaron was shot, and the video shows Paris reaching for the gun. The gun may have gone off again by accident. Both kids had bullets in the head.
Shinise Harvey, Paris’s mom, said that the accident happened by chance because the kids were “trying to be too cool.”
She hadn’t seen the video herself, but people in her family had told her about it.
The family is devastated by what happened, and they are having a hard time coming to terms with their loss.
They said it was a tragic accident, but there is no evidence to back that up.
